Enjoyed visiting this small Butterfly farm. Lovely Spanish lady 'Marrivé', gave us a guided tour in quite good English and we could understand her (The English guide was off today) About 20-30 species, depending on the time of year that you visit. Very informative tour and unlimited time to wander round by ourselves. They explain everything from the laying of an egg to the lifespan of all the different butterflies. Marrivé also opened the cocoon cupboard for us to take photos of newly emerging butterflies. Facilities: small shop, outside seating area (under cover) and a chemical (unisex) toilet. Parking is on the wasteland next to the entrance.
Don't expect a huge commercial set-up, it's only been up and running for about 2 years, but it's lovely inside. In hot weather you'll appreciate being automatically misted every few minutes or so! Lovely set-up inside, obviously very humid and tropical.
After the tour they bring you out some lemonade/lemon squash to drink in the picnic area.
We loved it and would visit again with friends/relatives. *I would say wheelchair friendly as inside is all flat ground/earth.
Gracias Mariposario! Xx

We had a fab visit to the butterfly house with our 5 year old daughter who absolutely loved it. Nice low key setting without the more commercial aspects of a larger attraction which suited us well. Very friendly staff made us feel welcome and entry price was reasonable. Would recommend to families with young children.

Hearing through the press, my parents suggested a trip with the grandchildren (age 4 and 6) to the newly opened butterfly farm. They all had a great couple of hours, could have possibly stated longer if children were older and the weather wasn't so hot! Very well ran, lovely friendly staff, English speaking guide on hand. Complementary cold drinks well received, small picnic area perfect for lunch. A genuine hit - well worth the visit for young and old! Will definitely return and recommend to others!! Thank you Mariposario!!
