“A gem for visitors to Algonquin Park and Muskoka in general!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013

My husband and I stopped at the Moose early on a Saturday morning for a quick breakfast-to-go on our way into Algonquin Provincial Park for a hike. The multi-grain croissants we purchased were so amazing - and the atmosphere of the whole place so warm and welcoming - that we decided to return for our lunch later in the day. We were not disappointed.

If you're looking for quality food that's a departure from the typical "burgers and fries" - but still affordable - visit The Moose Cafe. The food was fresh and inventive. I had the "Reggae Chicken", a nicely season chicken breast on a fabulously fresh whole grain bun. The chicken was seasoned with jerk spices and complimented with a sweet relish, pickle, onions and tomato.

My husband had the amazing fresh and smoked trout combo on a bagel with fresh arugula. Also excellent. Who says you have to settle for hurried, hapless food just because you're near a tourist destination?

Visit the Moose Cafe if you're tired of greasy-spoon fare, craving friendly service, hungering for good, fresh food and seeking an all-around pleasant experience. We will be back!

P.S. The fact that they serve brews from the local Lake of Bays Brewery is a bonus!

“Decent Meal”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

The restaurant has a comfortable, Mom & Pop feel. The menu is a fair size, with simple but good quality food. I enjoyed a burger topped with local back-bacon on a bun from a local bakery. Very satisfying after a day in the park. The service was a bit slow but we didn't have anywhere else to be so, no biggie.

Thank-you for coming into our restaurant. Sorry that the service was slow. We have been training students and some just don't work out or it is there 1st job and they customer patience. We do make everything fresh to order and sometimes that does take longer than a chain fast food restaurant. Please come again when you are in the area we appreciate your business.

“Excellent food, poor service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2013 via mobile

We arrived at 6pm, there were 3 tables occupied. It took the server almost 15 minutes to take our drink order. Food wait was an hour with only three occupied tables in the establishment. Server didn't come and ask how the food was or offer a beverage refill.
Food was very good, our party had 2 Moose Burgers and a Veggie Pizza. Moose burger had back bacon on it which was not a processed back bacon, appeared to be straight from a pig. Side was a potato wedge with a sour cream dill dip, half of the wedges were still crunchy but the dip was delicious. Veggie pizza was tasty but slightly undercooked.
Very cool souvenir shop on premises and nice art for sale on the walls.

“Very nice place for breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013 via mobile

On our way to explore some spots of the Algonquin Provential park we stopped at the restaurant for breakfast, it was a very nice sevounir shop/ restaurant, family owned and managed. Breakfast was very good, selection of coffee and amazing sevice. The waintrsss refused to take the pancake plate unless we finish it, she was tempting us go finish it like a mom.
