“Great food - nice setup”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2013

I hardly ever rate restaurants here on tripadvisor - I do hotels frequently - but for this restaurant I had to. My company took me out for lunch and the food was great. Simple English great lunch with sausage, mashed potatoe some vegetable and beer.

I can only recommend going for lunch to The Lamb Inn.

We had dinner at the Mousetrap Inn and we all missed the good taste....

“Re-fuel stop on a walking weekend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

Called in here last Saturday as a group of 6 - attentive staff pleasant ambience though entrance is awkward interior of pub attractively furnished.
Decent beer though limited choice and disappointing no local ales.
Excellent bar snacks - wife had the charceuterie selection & greatly enjoyed whilst the venison sauasage roll I had was excellent.
Only drawback was waiting 25mins for food.

If you're in the area, I really recommend you head here to eat. The staff are amazing, the food is superb and the prices are very reasonable - go, go, go!!!

“Great Expectations - not quite fulfilled :(”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

Had a weekend away from it all visiting the Cotswolds, while staying at The Lamb. While it is a lovely old pub, slightly disappointed with the rooms, although quaint, nothing "Wow" about them. Very poor shower in the ensuite, barely more than a dribble, however very clean and service throughout our stay was excellent and friendly. We were looking forward to breakfast but found it very basic and not really plentiful apart from the coffee and help yourself toast. A brilliant location and good base for a stay in the Cotswolds but not if your looking for the Wow factor and luxury in your room, which is possible while maintaining quaintness and character.

“Highly Overrated - don't go if you expect to have a hot Sunday lunch.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2013 via mobile

Went for a family get-together on Sunday lunch for my wife's birthday. We'd been a few months before and had had a good impromptu lunch on a Saturday so decided to go back for my wife's birthday in February.

After talking to the lovely lady waitress we knew to book for sunday lunch which we did well in advance. We decided to eat in the bar rather than the restaurant as judging from our previous visit, thought the atmosphere would be better.

We arrived on time at 12:30 and settled into the table reserved in the bar. Directly below the projector screen which was mercifully turned off. Fifteen minutes later we were told if we wanted beef we would have to order it as they only had 6 portions left. This at 12:45 when there was only 2 or 3 tables in the restaurant plus our table in the bar. I don't know how many people order in advance but I wouldn't have thought the restaurant would be running out of beef so early in service. We were told we could order how the beef was cooked so most if us preferred the rare option.

When it came the plates were cold and the beef barely warm but overlooked. The gravy tasted like they'd used cocoa powder possibly to darken it and give it that 'rich' jus colour! For 7 people we barely had enough veg for 3. And the yorkshire puddings were basically left overs reheated. However we didn't complain as we couldn't send it back for fresh beef as we knew there wasn't any.

The puddings were great however slightly spoiled the end of the meal by them putting the tv on to watch the rugby.

We were bitterly disappointed as it had been highly recommended to us but we shall definately not recommend to anyone else and absolutely will not go back again.
