“Awesome chalet, food and hospitality”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

We have just got back from a weeks holiday at Chalet Lingayoni. I cannot recommend it enough!! January is an awesome time to go as it is low season, even though we were only six adults and one child we got the loft apartment which was enormous. It comes with a fully equipped kitchen which we didn't use very much as the food at the chalet was amazing. The showers were really good and much welcomed after a days skiing and for those who want it there was a bath as well. From the minute we arrived we were warmly welcomed and that service continued for the entire holiday. Jolanda and Mauro were great hosts who made us feel very welcome and made sure we were never hungry with an enormous breakfast and then cake at 4pm, tapas at 6pm and dinner at 8pm. They also made a special early dinner for the 18 month old in our party so she could go to bed before we ate. Oz is a lovely little town, much calmer than Alpe d'Huez but with everything you need. The crèche was very good as was the hire shop which allowed us to store our skis there overnight even though they were our own and not hired from them. The ski area is plenty big enough as the lift pass covers Vaujany, Oz and Alpe d'Huez so there is something for everyone. Unless you want night life I would highly recommend Chalet Lingayoni as it has everything you could want!

Positives: wonderful food, afternoon tea, tapas and 3 course dinner were just what was required after a days skiing! Having previously used public transport for the transfer from the airport, the service from small wonders was excellent. Really helpful staff who couldn't do enough, including getting us to and from the slopes when we wanted.

Negatives: if you want night life as part of your apres ski then le bessay is not so good-but with everything you need at the chalet you won't want to bother going out! Otherwise, we couldn't find anything not to like!

We stayed with some friends in the upper Loft apartment in the first week of the season; wauw, what a spacious ballroom that is, amazing. Definitely not like the small apartments I've been in before...... It had a nice balcony with great views, as well as big windows in the roof looking towards the station. There even was a nice modern fire stove and an excellent equipped kitchen. Funny enough we didn't spend to much time there, except for the deep, sleepy nights, as the bar and restaurant are so cosy you forget to take that shower before diner. Jolanda and Mauro create a super relaxed atmosphere and serve you excellent quality food and beautiful tasty wines. They start to spoil you around four with cakes, coffee and tea, continue with tapas around six and finish it of with a 3-course diner. After that it's Whiskey time, six different brands! Where else do I find that in the French Alps.............wauw!!!

Room Tip: As it wasn't fully booked I had the opportunity to look in several apartments. They are all spac...

Thank you Eli and Nick for an incredible stay. You were the best hosts-accomodating to the end, every meal was Michelin star quality and the Chalet a haven. I cannot recommend Lingayoni more-it is traquil, beautifully decorated, you sleep so deeply and the skiing all around is perfect for every level. We had some epic conditions in April with a foot of powder every night for 4 days-the ski hire shop was wonderful and swapped around our kit constantly to make the best of the conditions. Nick your cooking is better than ANY restaurant we have ever eaten in and take the prize for the largest Flambé known to cooking! Eli, you are so much fun and make a mean cocktail! We hope you some to London soon. Thank you again for such a wonderful holiday. Lulu, Anand, Kalps, Poppy and Kev.

We booked from April 7th to 14th on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed. Hosts Eli and Nick do everything to make your stay as pleasant and relaxing as possible. We had a big group (6 adults and 5 kids from 4 months to 11 years!) but they took it in their stride and made everything run smoothly - from ski passes and rental taken care of, to kids' dinner at 6 followed by sumptuous 3 course meals for the adults at 8pm, great wines...etc. The accommodation is really good - interconnecting appartements that offer just the right blend of community and privacy. Ideal for families who want their kids to play together whilst the adults get some downtime!
Sauna in the basement was a great post-ski ritual, and for non-skiers there are some nice walks nearby (including a waterfall with cave to explore).
Special mention for Nick's cooking - all too often on ski trips you feel you come back less healthy, having eaten chips/red meat/melted cheese all week. Not here - plenty of fish, vegetarian dishes, fruit....etc. So top marks on that front.
Would definitely re-book.

Room Tip: Appartement Les Rousses has a great configuration of 3 bedrooms + living room if you have a big fami...

Four of us stayed in the Rousses apartment at the Chalet Lingayoni for a week from 18 March 2012. Accommodation and food were absolutely first class and Nick and Eli went out of their way to cater for our every need. Had a great bunch of people there and so had some good evenings chatting around the table and running up a sizeable bar bill!! Pascal answered my never ending list of questions very patiently before we booked and everything ran really smoothly meaning we had a great skiing holiday, even if the snow was starting to melt in the unseasonably warm temperatures.

Chalet Lingayoni is a traditional converted accommodation with a modern twist. Apartment was very comfortable, clean and peaceful thanks to Eli, a great place to relax after a day skiing. The food was fantastic and the chef Nick provides a different experience than would traditionally be expected in the region, the seafood was excellent and desserts a delight. Highly recommended
