Located almost on top of the Wolfe Island Ferry dock, the Grill is a surprisingly good restaurant. If one were to judge a book by its cover, then one would cross the road in order to by-pass the place. Don't be put off by the outward appearance. Take a chance and come on in. The inside is very clean and modern, with pleasant bathrooms, polite wait staff, a large outside seating area and a view across the water to Kingston. Between the four of us we sampled four menu items, and were not disappointed by either quantity or quality. The menu is not huge, but certainly carries a large enough variety to please just about anyone, at prices competitive with those of Kingston. Parking could be a problem during high season, when visitors from Kingston might be well advised to leave their vehicles in Kingston and walk onto the ferry; it's about a thirty second walk from the dock.

Best thing to boast here is probably clean washrooms and a nice deck sit out patio facing the waters. Fries were quite tasty ($4 when we ate here).

We had the
- stuffed chicken (decent tasting, not wow, had little sauce, was a bit dry and portions were not large)
- angus steak (wouldn't recommend it as my medium was tough and steak didn't feel "angus" and was $28.
- wine mussels (not bad but had no sides! Just two pieces of bread)

User experience wasn't great and waiters were running around trying their best but they just couldn't seem to handle an average Saturday evening crowd. (We were there early at 6pm and we took an hour to get our food) apart from drinks, no appetizers, no bread, nothing. Water Cups had to be returned twice because one was still dirty and another had a fly in it. We ordered a "tortoise" meal (menu had tortoise and hare on it) so we were expecting to wait. But an hour was pushing it a little. When the mains were delivered, we had Croquettes stuffed with something that rice or risotto delivered to us. We thought it was their version of stuffed chicken but after a while, became apparent to my kids that there was no chicken in them! We had to wait again and they apologized but made sure we knew that the croquettes were a bonus and a "gift" from the manager. You would also have to ask for water to be refilled, right utensils as they are not automatic.

The ambience and friendly waiter (when You can catch her) made up for it.

WIG is a nice addition to the island. In the warm months they have a lovely patio open with glass garage doors. At night you can view the lights if Kingston and the WI3 coming and going. The menu is larger in the warm months with a limited variety but with something for everyone. And it is all delicious! Their home cut fries are a welcome change from all other restaurants with their McCain super fries. Their burgers are the best I have tasted. The seasoning is wonderful. In the winter months they are only open a few days a week with a little smaller menu but equally as delicious. If you had seen the transformation through the previous 2 owners you will be astounded. Treat yourself to an evening ferry ride and great meal.

Drove up from Belleville to see Fred Eaglesmith but when we got there it was over sold. The concert was inside where they had 30 chairs set up, all reserved with no one in them. We were told we would have to go out on the pattio to watch, where there was no view of the band, and exposed to a cold autumn breeze off the lake. The owner was completly indifferent to our concerns and said that this was normal. We stood around on the patio for 1/2 an hour and left. What a waste of $30 per ticket and 1 1/2 hours travel time. Hope the locals shut him down as I hear they are annoyed with him as we are.
