Mannaas Veedu as a beautiful little retreat run by Alex and his army of charming young ladies. The aim of the place is to provide the customers with a feel for traditional Keralan culture and food and to allow the girls to improve their language and hospitality skills. The result is a fascinating mix of local activities and sightseeing with the girls attending to your every need and acting as guides. Shwetha and Lydiya spent the most time with us and we thoroughly enjoy their company and sense of humour.

The food is really fantastic (Alex is a caterer by trade) and we were lucky enough to watch him cook one night. The rooms and surroundings are beautiful and very comfortable and clean. The area has lots of things to see and do (we went to the local hindu temple, saw the metal mirror making, bathed and rode elephants and had an ayurvedic massage among other things).

All in all this is an incredible place to visit and stay and we sincerely hope we get the chance to go back some day.

The gates were opened by a beaming smile belonging to Shweta. The welcoming lunch (a feast) was produced by Bindu before the owner Alex took us around the village and Shweta showed us around the temple and river. The staff are simply amazing as is the food. We met other guests who were returning for the sixth time: I can understand why!
Our only disappointment? We were not staying longer!

Mannas Veedu is a very relaxing and tranquil place where you are warmly welcomed by the owner and staff. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. You arrive as guests and when you leave you feel like family. We had a wonderful stay and would like to say a big thank you to all.

Fantastic surroundings, peaceful. Friendly staff. Our host Alex made sure our stay was full of interesting activities, taking time out to go with us to a Boat Parade at the temple. We had an interesting village walk, the local children were so lovely! A highlight was bathing an elephant and having an elephant ride after. An Indian cooking lesson taught us how to make chapatis!

We stayed at Manaas Veedu for 2 days and were pampered by their hospitality. The rooms are spacious with an eye for detail and have every amenity of luxury setting. The resort is built on a traditional style and is as excellent place for NRIs to take a break and connect with the traditional Kerala lifestyle. The staff took personnel attention and made us feel at home.

The best part was of course the food. It was a typical home setting dining place with traditional Kerala style food. The veg dishes, avial and fish curry rocks!! The iddiappam and kadala curry was too good and was the best I have ever had. The food doesn't taste like the normal commercial bulk cooking in other resorts.

We didn't try the continental preparations but I am sure they will be great too.

We wish the whole team at Mannaas Veedu the very best!!

We certainly enjoyed our wonderful stay - host Alex together with Priya and Bindu helped to make our stay most memorable. The Kerala style food so delicioous! Our trip to ancient temple and local church most interesting. Children in the local village were enchanting. The elephant washing and subsequent ride a definite highlight of our trip as was witnessing the snakeboats assembling for the annual races.

India can be a hustle bustle place but Mannas Veedu is a welcome sanctuary. It's excellent accommodation is warm and humbling, and a touch of rural luxury. All the staff are welcoming and very chatty, its nice to talk to locals and experience the country properly. One key thing that I loved was the food and learning the girls in the kitchens skills, its was always a feast of the senses.

My only honest criticism, and this is purely personal was the massage, it was, as I was told afterwards, very traditional, both the full body and the indian head massage and didn't enjoy them, i am trained in massage and have one every week and none of the techniques I found particularly enjoyable, they were all smooshing movements for the whole hour (full body) and 1/2 hour (head massage). I was told this wasn't the normal guy, but this didn't help me there and then. Apparently it focused on the skin and detox, which I get, but in my mind the techniques needed to be diversified even for the expectation of relaxation of foreign travellers.

Above all a great stay, very enjoyable and would come back if I was in the area. Thanks
