“Awesome Place and Great People”
Reviewed November 28, 2012

Everything about my 3 night stay at Hotel Parkside was fantastic, the wildlife was exquisite, the hotel grounds and room was wonderful and the staff was great. My guide, Gopal, was the absolute best tour guide I could have possibly imagined. His expertise is second to none. I can not recommend you spending your time at Chitwan anywhere other than at Hotel Parkside and under the tutelage of Gopal.

We'd like to second all the positive comments of other reviewers. We've never done any kind of travel package before and were surprised and pleased by our experience. The hotel is clean, modern and well managed by a friendly staff. Our experiences with our guide, Gopal, were remarkable; among other things, we (that is, he) identified over 60 species of birds. His knowledge is encyclopedic! As others have mentioned, the management's commitment to developing the community is a model for how positive change might happen in Nepal. Don't miss the culture show put on by the young men of the town!

If you are looking for a clean room with plenty of space and daylight, professional friendly service both at the resort and during activities in the park, and good food (choice of meat or vegetarian dishes), give Hotel Parkside a try.

Our trip to Chitwan NP was rather spontaneous, arranged at last minute. It was made possible by wonderful rep at the hotel's Kathmandu booking office who (after we were told by other agency all buses were full due to a Hindu Festival) got on the phone, and in less than 5 minutes had our stay arranged, all inclusive.

We met the same level of care and hospitality once we arrived to Sauhara. Accommodation was comfortable in large air-conditioned rooms with attached bathroom. Food buffet consisted of variety of dishes including vegetarian options and the relaxing dining area was set up nicely for a chat with fellow travelers.

Our package included Elephant Safari Ride, Elephant Bath, Jungle Walk, Canoe Trip, Elephant Breeding Center visit, and Jeep Safari, and as a bonus we received a peek into the behind the scenes life of the owner's family. All the activities were well organized, our guides were knowledgeable, spoke good English, and were happy to share many interesting facts about the park with us.

Our host Shree was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were not on a package but did pretty much everything and were happy with the prices, and the service was great. Rooms are not serviced, and food is basic but plentiful and tasty.

I waited most of my adult life to travel to Chitwan National Park. Hotel Parkside service is unsurpassed. I was so very impressed with The Parkside Hotel and their commitment to their guests as well to aiding in the health and education of the people of Chitwan!
I woke very early and wanted to experience as much as I could. I was ready at 6 a.m. and ready at the end of the day for sunsets! Gopal was always there for me waiting! GOPAL, our guide provides safe, thoughtful, flexible, and extremely knowledgable tours. We saw many species of animals, birds, snails, insects, frogs, plants,( like the Namaste plant, folds when touched) crocs, and alligators! Gopal knew who and what they were! I saw a speck in the distance; (when Gopal pointed), later when we approached the animal, or animals I was amazed that he could identify anything, even a small Kingfisher bird (we saw 4 different Kingfisher)! What eyesight and experience! Gopal even took me out in the rain when I asked upon arrival! Thank goodness because my husband and myself were able to get up front and personal to a one horned rhino! We rode an elephant on land and later another through the river. We walked through the jungle for hours. Gopal could hear a tiny twig break and knew the cause whether it be rhino, monkey, deer, etc. The food at the Hotel Parkside is great and after our adventures my husband and myself had COLD beer; very nice after canoeing, walking, riding in the heat! We were taken to a dance show in town too. It was very creative and was so much fun and entertaining! Oh, and what a surprise to see such a bathroom after traveling for several weeks! Awesome airconditioning as well! Complimentary wireless and wired high-speed Internet access is available in public areas and the hotel has an Internet point.
Thank you kind family of Parkside Hotel! Thank you Gopal!

We just finished great visit to Chitwan National Park with a 3 night stay at Hotel Parkside. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The buffet food was quite good - we were pleased that there were vegetarian options at every meal. The open second floor dining room was a great place to connect with fellow travelers. We made many new friends. The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. The programed activity choices were wonderful as was our guide, Gopal. We had a fantastic time on the elephant ride (really exploring the jungle) and elephant bathing (haven't laughed so hard in a long time) and on our jungle walk. We saw many rhinos and alligators along with deer, peacocks, and many tropical birds. One evening we heard the deer warning each other and heard a tiger roar from the jungle. We saw tiger prints and saw a deer the tiger had caught. We enjoyed the morning bird watch from a big canoe (hollowed out from a single tree) and our trip up to 20,000 lakes. The Tharu village people live around the hotel and one evening their young people gave an impressively complex stick dance as part of an evening program. We even got to join the dancing at the end of the program. The most striking part of this hotel is their commitment to helping the local people. The owner of the hotel was unable to go to school when he was young until he was given assistance by another. He now does the same for local children. There are many projects to help local people including a place to learn the use of sewing machines and a place that sells locally made elephant dung paper.

We have been staying in Hotel Parkside for 3 nights. First we had to get accustomed to the heat and moist. Luckily our room had airconditioning and a fan. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is quite luxourious.
We enjoyed a really nice programme with an elephant safari, jungle tour, bird watching tour in a canoe, cultural show and more. The staff of the hotel really takes good care of you and the guide is especially enthusiastic and friendly! His name is Gopal from Nepal, you can't miss him. Also the kitchen makes good Nepali dishes with a lot of veggies.
Also we would like to tell that the hotel finances local projects for the community of Chitwan. One of the projects is supporting the production of paper out of elephant dung and the construction of an eye hospital. Hotel Parkside is the only hotel in Chitwan that doesn't only take care of it's own business but also looks after the community.
