“One of my favorite places to stay in Nepal”
Reviewed August 27, 2011

I've been staying twice at the Unique Wild Resort.
From Februari 2009 till April 2009 and from April 2011 to May 2011.

The second time was the feeling that I finally got home after a long trip. The staff, the hotel as well as its surroundings are beautiful. The service that they give you is really good.
And under service I include food, trips and the comfort of the rooms.

I can't wait to go back!

During three months i've stayed weekends at the Unique Wild Resort. I've stayed in almost every room and found every room equally comfortable.
The location of the resort is perfect, just outside the center of the town and right next to a couple of resting places for elephants. Inbetween the apartments there´s beautiful nature and places to hang out.
The staff has always done their very best to make my stay as pleasant as possible, and they are very very friendly.
The resort can organize every type of excursions for you.
I'd certainly recommend this hotel !!

This so called "resort" was hardly anything short of hole in the wall for the price. I understand that Nepal had load shedding nation wide to conserve energy but when you are staying at a hotel/resort then full accommodations should be provided at all times. My wife and I traveled here with our 18 month old son and he was extremely hot due to the temperature & humidity. He was also severly bitten by mosquitos and needed the ceiling fan to be turned on but the generator was not turned on until requested by my wife. After only a few hours the "resort" shut down the generator and allowed everyone to sleep in hot & humid temperatures with no ceiling fan. I would never return to this "resort" nor would I recommend it to anyone I know.

The Management of Unique Wild Resort has drawn attention in this review.
First of all. We couldn’t find records of this family staying with us. It is also likely that we forget to make registration when they arrived. This is not a problem...only thing i want to make sure and I hope they did not post this review in wrong place.

In any case; the clients review is mainly focused on load shedding and due to that hot temperature & humidity was great problem to them. The clients them self has answered the issue in same review; the line they wrote is; I understand that Nepal had load shedding nation wide to conserve energy.
I can’t understand why they didn’t investigate information about season and other facts of Chitwan before they leaving to Chitwan with 18-month-old son. I humbly would like to request the patrons to understand that from April up to September Chitwan is a hot season with high temperature, humidity and lot’s mosquitos. We (UWR) can’t do much about it. We have mosquito neats in the rooms as well as in windows and doors. We do have ceiling fan but ………………..due to energy; clients has realized that we had turned on generator for few hours and shut down the generator which is true because we have to think about the park, wildlife and local people also. We can’t disturb the surrounding with noise of the generator because we are responsible for wildlife preservation as well.. Any way we apology for uncomfortable stay with us.

For the comfortable stay for your guest we have recently installed Air condition in every rooms. Lets see how load shedding will favor us to provide this service to our guest. We are constantly concerned about the comfort of your stay in our resort.
Thank you for your great feedback.

We've arrived only for 1 night already at 8am, but there was no issue to give us a ready room and breakfast for both of us and our 2 friends who brought us into the village.
About 3 guys tried to offer the best programm for us even our time was limited (next day 9am departure by bus).
For a reasonable price (55USD/person) we got huge AC room with double bed and extra bed, inlcuding breakfast, lunch and dinner. Programm included in the package : boat ride, short jungle walk, elephant bath, elaphant safari (1,5 hrs), visit of elephant breeding center, cultural programm (organized by local people in the village).
What makes the hotel great was the support of the people there. Even they gave us a list of activities with all the times, they came everytime to our room and informed us that the time is comming. They took us to all the places, explained everything etc.
Hotel quality is OK, average for all foreigners, better then avg. in comparison to the other hotels in Nepal.

I do have to first say that our stay was quite pleasant while at the hotel. Unfortunately, right before we checked out we went on a safari with the Resort. While we were away on the safari - about 2 hours- someone went into our locked room and took some cash from our luggage. This was accomplished with the use of a key and must have therefore been someone associated with the resort. The manager said he would investigate the matter and contact us regarding this situation. However, we have not heard from the manager since. Very disappointing. I would not recommend this resort. Stay somewhere else that has a safe in the room.

Due to the government closure of hotels within the park I was concerned that staying outside the buffer zone would be a disapointing. The program offered by the hotel was very good and the elephant bathing a real highlight. The bird watching trip down the river was very worthwhile and the baby elephants and the breeding centre were worth getting up early for. They only offer one elephant safari as standard but were able to arrange a second one for US$20 per person. The government elephant safari was less commercialised than the private elephant trip. Elephants live at the back of the hotel so we were surrounded by them - that is what Chitwan is all about to me!

The hotel food was hit and miss and I would suggest you agree to having the A la Carte menu, The Nepali food was good.

Rooms are very large with effective ceiling fans and balcony/terrace. While the rooms were very clean and thoroughly vacuumed they could benefit from a lick of paint to brighten them up. Beds were very comfortable and clean. Bathrooms are large but smell a bit but have loads of lovely hot water.

The hotel is on the far side of town but just a short walk from the centre of town.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Unique Wild Resort. The gardens are tropical and attractive. The staff were friendly and caring. Our outings with Jog, one of the Chitwan National park rangers were fun and interesting. We had 2 wonderful excursions with OUR elephant who was gentle and adventurous.
