“The friendly peaceful and enjoyable place to stay in Sauraha, Chitwan”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

I have been a dozen of times to Chitwan National Park, have been stayed in different places each time. This place is the best i've liked so far. At first it's conveniently located almost at the entry to the village, the building standing enough far from the market shops, so that it's quiet through most part of the day and night. The vast area of hotel premises consists of vegetable fields, fish pond, area for chickens and ducks which create a feel of homely farm. The ever friendly and diplomatic staff are amazingly sensible and helpful - just enough not to overindulge pushing you into various activities, so you feel like being on safari program and same time being completely on your own. The rooms are newly fresh, very large! with large hot showers, TV and other facilities as well. On one of the nights the hotel manager Keshab has offered to all of the guests the bon-fire with grilled vegetables, chicken and fish barbeque - all from their own farm & for free!! We were indeed amazed by their hospitality, enjoyed our stay profoundly. Highly recommending it!

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in so far on my travels to Austrailia. The staff our wonderfully friendly and exceedingly helpful, the rooms are clean, spacious and well designed, with a fan, tv and free wifi as an added bonus. The restaurant is supplied by their organic gardens, which can be seen in the grounds and has something to please even the pickiest of eaters. I stayed there for a week during monsoon season, and it was fabulous. The hotel picked me up from the tourist bus stop in their jeep, organised adventures with elephants (both washing and riding them) and also gave options for other activities in the national park. It is also only a 2 min walk into the town with many souvenier shops and local bars. 3 months into my journey this was an amazing place to relax, feel safe and at home. I will be back as soon as i can! Many thanks to all there.

We first stayed at Hotel Monalisa while journeying with an organised travel group between London and Sydney. Both my wife and I were very impressed with the hotel, with it's large spacious rooms which were spotlessly clean, and concluded that it was the best hotel we had stayed in throughout our 12 weeks of travel. Each room has a fan, hot running showers, a TV and free wifi which is incredibly useful.
The staff are all incredibly polite and helpful, and nothing seems too much trouble for them. They organised several excursions for us which were all delivered excellently.
The organic veg gardens that surround the restaurant are a fantastic idea, so that the ingredients they use are as fresh and sustainable as possible. The restaurant itself offers a range of well cooked meals from a number of different cultures, and I as a vegetarian had more than enough choice of food.
The setting of the hotel is not far from the boundary of Chitwan National Park, and the immediate surrounding area is quite quiet and relaxing to explore. It is incredibly easy to relax and unwind with the lack of noise around.
Several weeks after our first stay we had some spare time in our travel itinerary, and we actually decided to go back to Monalisa for another visit. This time the hotel picked us up from the bus station as soon as our bus arrived, and when we were ready to leave they even booked our onward bus for us to ensure we had a seat reserved.
All in all we were very happy with both our stays, and will use Monalisa again if our travel plans bring us back to the area in the future.

Room Tip: Travelling with a group the first time meant that we saw a number of the rooms while visiting our fr...

The experience of Hotel Monalisa was overall relaxing. Everything was organised for us so there was no need to plan anything ourselves. The airport pickup, program etc worked smoothly, everything was taken care of. Very friendly staff.

Room was clean and big, also common spaces were nice and clean. Garden, fish pond etc created relaxing experience. Food was good, organic stuff from their own farm. The hotel is just close to Sauraha village's main (?) road so shopping for souvenirs etc is easy.

Camel ride was nice extra! There are two camels in Nepal, both in Monalisa (I've been told).

Overall, I recommend the Hotel Monalisa.

We were recommended hotel Mona Lisa when our usual place, Sapana Lodge was fully booked. It's a great alternative and we (3 adults and an 8 year old) took two rooms.

Hotel monalisa has been open just over a year and has clean spacious rooms with fans TV and wifi. The bathrooms are squeaky clean and have hot showers. The bedding and towels were clean and fresh. The rooms overlook colourful flowerbeds, a large organic veg garden and beehives.

Tasty freshly cooked breakfast and free water at all times from a filter.

The owner and staff were helpful and cheerful and the place has a friendly atmosphere.

Uniquely there are two healthy camels on site brought from India and kids/ adults can have a ride around sauraha.

Modern, big room. Almost farmyard experience as grow own vegetables & have animals. Great range of food although not always well executed. Do vegetarian better than non-vegetarian - not much edible meat in the goat curry. Staff very helpful. Organised the tours we required. If you get the opportunity go out to the Nepali village where people are volunteering their time. WIFI capable although link very slow. A wonderful place to stay.
