This place is beyond. From the moment we entered the courtyard from a dusty back road drive through the bush-veld you new instantly this was beyond special. Bush-pigs blazed in front of us as we approached our accommodations, a beautiful straw roofed cottage, immaculately presented and wonderfully furnished...to bad there was no time to stay inside as our time was dominated by game drives for all the big African five with our ever present guide Issac. The food in the guests 5 star dining tent was superb and some of the best I have ever eaten anywhere. With a campfire at night and choice wines with daytime spent rousting up game, discovering crocodiles, enormous snakes, Giraffe, wilderbeast, Rhino (white and Black) Zebra, Ellies and whatever else the continent could provide...the fabulous looking pool never saw a toe.

My husband & I recently visited Rhino River Lodge - we decided to spoil ourselves for our wedding anniversary. Well spoilt we were! We were warmly welcomed by Lauren on our arrival and shown to our very comfortable, clean and well equipped accommodation, We had arrived in time for a super lunch set in the boma area, over looking the river bed and fever trees and well cared for gardens. Warthog and buck were busy keeping the lawns trimmed & the bird life - amazing.
We learned so much on the game drives and had a very relaxed time with Isaac & Jason - our rangers for the weekend. The spiders and their webs really fascinated us. The early morning coffee & rusks and evening drinks were so special and we are so blessed to have all this beauty on our doorstep. Nothing like an African sunrise & sunset.
We must commend Lauren, Isaac & Jason for all the effort they put into making our wedding anniversary such a memorable & romantic evening. The paper lanterns, warm log fire and cozy table for two in our own private boma, was just so special and greatly appreciated. At the end of an amazing meal it was just so relaxing to sit next to the fire with a glass of wine in our hands and look up at the millions of stars and listen to the sounds of the African night. Even the cries of the bush babies.
It was wonderful to see the dams full and the bush so lush, making game viewing a bit tricky, but at least we know that the animals are well fed and watered.
Rhino River Lodge will certainly be a place that we will recommend to friends and family & I'm sure we will return in the not too distant future.
To Lauren and her team - thank you for a wonderful weekend.
Jeff & Margie

We just had a wonderful stay at the RRL. The location was wonderful, once we passed the gate we found impala's, rhino's, warthhogs, zebra's, so close to us.
The rooms were beautiful. The staff was professional. We realy had to eat fast because they were all trained to get our plate back to the kitchen as soon as we pauzed... We had rangers on different locations that seemed to be a bit more willing to explain details about the wildlife...
My mistake but I thought we would also go to the hluhluwe park for a game drive and not stay on the RRL reserve.

We love this place. The hospitality is second to none and the staff is very accomodating. The food is wonderful. We have had a great time on both visits. Staff goes out of their way to make sure every guest is taken care of and enjoys themselves. Rhino River is also in a great location with many places to visit in the surrounding area.

Room Tip: Chalets are large and comfortable.

It was brilliant to return to Rhino River Lodge again for Easter and to again experience such excellent service, wonderful food and 6 hours of game viewing each day with such knowledgeable game rangers. Nothing like a glass of wine next to the water hole as the sun sinks in the west against the fever trees and the moon rises in the east. What a magical place.

Room Tip: All rooms overlook the lawns which sometimes play host to the warthogs and impalas.
