“Nice Wayside Inn with friendly atmosphere”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

Stayed here for two nights and ate breakfast and evening meal. The Inn is very pet friendly and we were lucky enough to sample the local folk music night on a Wednesday. Room was fine and the food above average. Nice real ales and wide selection of Malts. Ideal for the Perth area or if travelling through the area as a stop over. Would certainly use again.

I stayed at the Bankfoot Inn for one night before a days fishing on the Tay. I highly recommend every aspect of my stay here. The food was first class, service was thoughtful and friendly. I will definitely be using this place again!

We stayed in the Bankfoot in on the 17th of August and had dinner there too. We arrived in the afternoon, got a warm welcome and quickly shown to our room which was clean and comfortable, the en suite was of a good standard and had a great shower. We enjoyed a beverage or two sat outside in the sunshine, the choice of ale at the bar was good and competitively priced. We ate dinner in the very busy dining area - the food was good and plentiful and the staff very attentive and polite. We spent the rest of the evening fitting between outside and in before turning in for the night - the threat of the ghost didn't stop us having a very restful night!! Breakfast the following morning was freshly prepared to order, not a buffet trolley or a heat lamp in sight. All in all - a nice night away. This isn't a 5 star boutique Hotel but nor does it claim to be, it's a well run, friendly establishment with good staff, good food and a good atmosphere - I would quite fancy another night up there when it's really cold and snowy to take advantage of those log burners!

Room Tip: We were in room 2 - very nice (does that fire place work i wonder?)

We stayed here in August 2009 for Runrig's Scone Palace gig and for their 40th anniversary gig on 10.08.13 we broke our journey here.

We were very pleased last time but a lot of work has been carried out to improve the building: there's now a public bar away from the eating area. Decor has been improved and the whole place is a notch better.

Room No.1 was available again and it now has a comfortable sofa upon which to lounge: there's plenty of room, too. Bed was very comfortable.

There are now three real ales on (in summer) and a cider - John Thatcher's from near where we used to live in Somerset but by far the bigger coincidence was meeting a neighbour from our old village who was eating there one night!

Food was great; breakfast and evening meals were just as good as last time as was the service.

Highly recommended.

Booked overnight stay in the Bankfoot Inn to celebrate my husbands 40th Birthday, mainly due to excellent reviews read about the Inn. On arrival, staff were friendly and welcome, also very accommodating, as it was my husbands 40th I had requested a deluxe double room and at time of booking this was not available, on day of arrival, I was called to advise that this room was now available and offered this room. Service throughout was excellent, food was excellent and well worth the money. The real ale festival was very well organised and even although our room was above the dining room, there was limited noise. Local area was also very nice and the locals were friendly. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for 5 star treatment at 2 star cost. As previously mentioned our before, during and after service was second to none. This would make a good base for anyone wishing to explore the local sights.

Room Tip: We wanted a room with en suite and were amazed at the size and cleanliness of our room on arrival.

Two night stay on Scottish Game Fair weekend at Scone. Staff were very welcoming and cheery. We had a double room and a single for our son, both very clean and the double was larger than most. Food was ok but only the cursory vegetarian option (wife), which is all too familiar. Our dog was allowed in the bar food area while we ate which was good. Would we stay again? Definately.

Room Tip: We had room 2 which was to the front and above the outdoor tables. We did not find this to be a pro...

Well on a table outside on the pavement anyway! And a jolly fine lunch it was too. Chef's own lasagne, very tasty indeed, and not a crazy price either considering how expensive it can be to eat out anywhere these days.
Received by a characterful barmaid with plenty of personality who also served the food outside, (and was heard giving her boss an earful on the phone - which gave us a chuckle over our food) She was very welcoming, with a big smile and a warm personality, we liked her lots.
The bar was well laid out with plenty of tables made up for lunch if the weather didn't hold - but it did, much to our great satisfaction as it's so nice to sit outside in good weather in Scotland. The village is a quiet one with all the north/south traffic zooming past on the A9 rather than through the village itself.
From now on I'll make a point of diverting via Bankfoot for a watering/fooding stop here, but the standard of what we got won't be easy to maintain - it was as good as that.
I'm not one of those reviewers who loves everywhere he goes, and sees no problems anywhere with an uncritical eye. I especially appreciate good personal service as well as good and tasty food - and I place less stress on fancy surroundings. Adequate furnishing and high standards of cleanliness score highly with me rather than ostentation. Good food is increasingly hard to find these days, with so many hostelries having been absorbed into chains big and small. Not so here, and I hope to goodness the Bankfoot Inn holds out against any such development.

And hope to go an extra star next visit, which will be fairly easy if that particular member of staff is again on duty. She's very nice. (and no, I'm not her dad, her husband, her uncle or boyfriend - I have absolutely no idea who she even is) But her service made a very +ive impression on us both.

Room Tip: Not applicable, had lunch only.
