“Lovely beach with so much to offer”
Review of Mona Vale Beach

Mona Vale Beach
Reviewed June 5, 2013

I really have a special spot for Mona Vale Beach. There's so much to like. From the north, there is the little and quaintly named Bongin Bongin Bay, which is not very safe for swimming due to the steepness of the shore. But if conditions are just right, there is a great surf wave on the rock shelf at the southern end. On the point separating the Bay from the beach proper is a terrific and well-used ocean pool, with lighting.

But my favourite wave is just south of the point. There is an occasional left breaking wave coming in over the rock shelf, a current in between and a consistent right breaking into it. There are several spots further down the beach as well. There is an active surf club in summer, and plenty of parking. What more could you want on a nice day?

Lovely beach. Easy parking. Loved the sea pool which the children also loved. Pelican was on the beach too. Lovely cafe, Bronze, on the beach, served great food. Good shower facilities.

Nice beach but sydney has so many nice beaches. Where do you put Mona Vale on the list. Close to lots of other beaches shops restaurants golf courses. It is just another great beach in Sydney.

Whether your preference is to swim in a sea water pool, take a long walk, have a surf or even a swim in quiet water, Mona Vale has the lot.
Parking is plentiful although in keeping with most beaches in Sydney - expensive.
There are also fairly decent toilets and showers to help get rid of the salt and sand.
A good spot to watch moon eclipses when they come about,

I visited the beach during the last Christmas. It was reasonably quiet and peaceful, especially the part with the Long Reef Aquatic Reserve (near the Mona Vale Golf Club). A few kite surfers provided a small show in the afternoon, so I was not bored at all.

At the other end of the beach two Rock pools were available (smaller one for kids and bigger one for adults). It is also a beautiful and convenient place for picnic and BBQ, I saw several families enjoying it during the Christmas Day. I heard that that part of the beach is quite windy though.

There are also plenty of shower and bathroom facilities around.
