“Excellent hiking destination”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2012

Spent two nights in this wonderfully situated provencal auberge. The overhanging cliffs are somewhat reminiscent of the canyons of Zion National Park. The hiking trails which start from the auberge take you up to the Fort de Buoux and beyond with amazing panoramic views. We had a quiet, pleasant double room with good facilities. The welcoming pool was great after a long day's hiking. The staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful - they recovered a lost pair of earrings and kept them until we could pick them up on our return journey. Highly recommended for those who enjoy wonderful scenery and outdoor activities.

We arrived here on horse back down the gorge. Some people had opted for the cheaper version of our holiday and some the more expensive. My group was in the cheaper section and so we stayed in the dormitory. It was very clean and very comfortable. There probably was 20+ beds in there but there was only 4 of us and the guide, the night we stayed. It was lovely. The bunk beds were clean and comfortable. The toilets and showers clean and there were two showers and two loos. I expect it is not as comfortable if it is full up but it was great. It was a hot night and we had all the windows open and listend to the river. The germans had a bit of a singsong in the camping park late evening but it didn't really disturb us. Having had 4 really hot days riding the pool was fantastic. This location is fabulous. The food in the restaurant is really good. Exactly as an auberge should be. The rest of our party stayed in the hotel section. They thought it was nice too. We got to eat breakfast under the walnut tree on the patio and there was plenty of everything, croissants, yogart, jam, honey, bread, coffee, hot milk, tea etc. Our horses were well catered for here too. If anyone feels a need to grizzle about this place then they need to get a life and do some more travelling.

Room Tip: If you need quiet to sleep then pay for the more expensive rooms and don't choose the dormitory...

A unique and utterly breath-taking environment. However, we had come for peace and quiet yet were not informed of the fact that a large group of Salsa dancers would be present for their annual week-long workshop. One of the owners said she informed prospective guests over the phone when reservations were underway, but unfortunately when our time came to reserve, we had the other owner on the phone who did not bother to inform us - thus we left, the second night.

I stayed at Auberge during my weekend trip to Luberon while on a French course in Aix. It is high season and all accommodation is very expensive here (and sadly, I did not have any camping with me). Taking advantage of a bed in the dormitory and having the dinner and breakfast taken care of was a good solution for me - thus I normally prefere to take care of myself while travelling with others and on different times. I arrived on Friday, and was amazed by the provided starters, followed by main course and on top of that a dessert, all simple yet very tasty (unlike my degustation at another resto en Aix!). The dormitory is large and sleeps 20, but we were only 5 or 6 I think. There are mostly bunkbeds, clean sheets are provided for the pillow and blanket. The amenities are clean - the single shower with a view of the mountain opposite was very nice and spacious (I am a tall person), although one wonders if that is sufficient in case there are 20 people sleeping... :-) On the first day, one can choose form 3 options for his dinner, on the others, however, there is no selection - I do not know how this works for vegetarians as all meals offered were actually meat (fish, beef, pork, lamb). The swimming pool at the hotel looked very clean, sadly I have not tried that as I departed very early every morning to explore the villages before the tourist arrive!
One drawback of the dormitory - it is noisy until about 11 PM as the restaurant terrace is located just outside the windows so not really good for early nights. After 11 PM, it is fine, though.

Room Tip: Dormitory is quite noisy. The more private rooms shall be fine as they are located in another buildi...

We came here for the first time 2009 and had a wonderful stay with good food and great walkings in the surrounding area. We have longed to come back ever since, and it was great to return this spring and get the same good feeling of the place. The rooms are fresh and clean and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the great dinners with rustic provencal food and wine, an excellent tarte au citron, not to forget! In the mornings we had our breakfast under the walnut tree with fresh bread and delicious corsican jam. I recommend this to all who enjoy to wake up to birdsong in a peaceful surrounding.
