“La Lavandiere - Heaven”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

Why can't all B&Bs be like this? Welcoming us with a warm smile, a cup of tea and home made chocolate orange cake, Pauline, the owner instantly became our friend and advisor.

We were looking to buy a holiday home in the area and Pauline was always on hand for sharing her (vast) knowledge of the local area and for a jolly good chat, if wanted. The rooms are all wonderful , pristine, chiic and comfortable with modern new ensuites, beautiful antique furniture and quality bedlinen. It really looks like something from Homes and Garden.

Breakfast was a cafetiere of fresh coffee, freshly prepared fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, fruit juice, croissants, a variety of fresh breads with butter served in little curls and a selection of Pauline's home made jams - quite delicious.

Pauline was as enthusiastic as we were about buying in France, and took a genuine interest in our house hunt, giving some very welcome advice on the area, builders, restaurants, social life, activities etc.

Staying at La Lavanderie was a complete pleasure. It very quickly felt like a home from home. I would not hesitate to recommend it to even the most fussy of holidaymakers - it cannot be beaten. I also want to add that we found La Lavandiere by chance - we had never heard of it. or Pauline, before our stay. How lucky we were to find it.

We make several trips back to the UK and keep being drawn to La Lavandiere on our way back home to the South of France. We found out this time that the website wasn't working. If you need to book, and we highly recommend you do, the phone number to ring is +33 (0) 5 49 87 02 45.

Caveat, I just want to say not related to owner, or in business with her...my wife and I stayed for 6 nights in this Shangri-la of bed and breakfast's. We booked at short notice off season as we were staying to buy a house in area. The B&B should be a compulsory experience for all B&B owners so they can judge their own performance on how Pauline runs and presents this marvellous place. We were made to feel welcome right from the outset and Pauline was hugely supportive in our house hunting endeavours. The B&B is spotless (we are fussy people and could find no fault). The Rooms are stunning, breakfast was an excellent selection of home made goodies. Any one looking to own or run an B&B should use this as their bench mark standard. We were even tempted ourselves to make her an offer ...as this would be a business made in heaven for any prospective B&B owners - However, I find it very difficult being nice to people so would end up with no customers lol...
Cannot recommend highly enough ... 6 stars out of five ...

And thank you Pauline for making our trip so relaxing and enjoyable ...

On stepping through the door to receive a very warm welcome from owner Pauline our one regret was that we were only staying for one night. La Lavandiere is elegant and stylish, but with all the comforts of home. Shortly after we arrived we had tea with freshly baked apple cake in the pleasant courtyard. Pauline was on hand to give local restaurant recommendations, which were spot on. We also had a lovely breakfast with fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, conserves, and of course fresh croissants. Vouleme is a charming village and I cannot imagine a better place to stay if you are in the area.

I have just returned after a 4 night stay at la Lavandiere and have had the most wonderful stay.
Pauline the owner works very hard and keeps this property to an exceptionally high standard and spoils hers guests from the moment they arrive she certainly goes that extra mile to make sure her guests are happy.
The room was spotless, warm, welcoming and spacious.
The property is located in a calm and peaceful area but close to many towns.
there is also free wi-fi.
I would not hesitate to recommend this Bed and Breakfast which is a cut above the rest.
Thank you Pauline and I will come to stay again.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are immaculate.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at La Lavandiere and could not rate it more highly. The accommodation is fabulous and has been refurbished to a very high and very stylish standard. Everything is spotlessly clean and Pauline should be proud of the high standards she has set. La Lavandiere is perfectly situated to get away from it all or to explore more of the region. Each time we made a trip Pauline was on hand with advice and directions. Plus breakfast and especially the home-made jam is delicious!
