My husband and I have just returned from a weekend at 'Beach Huts at Middleton'. The location is a great distance from Adelaide and only took us approximately over an hour.
Beach huts is unique and like nothing I have ever stayed in. The huts looked like little morningside peninsula beach huts but inside they are very spacious and the attention to detail is the best I have even seen. We stayed in Torquay which I think suits the family having a self contained kitchen (it was gorgeous) a lounge and and double size bedroom. The hosts were very helpful and let us view Scarborough and Moololaba. Each one is different and I loved that the owners obviously also love quality, with everything from the fittings to the homewares being of good quality. Have a look at the website www.beachhuts.com.au and you can view each one.
The beach is a short walk down the road and perfect if your a surfer, the beach itself it beautiful and a looks popular with the locals for walks. The restaurant, onsite at Beach huts is stunning (good idea to book for dinner prior to making the booking its also popular with the locals) . I had the half baked duck and it was perfection. There is a pond outside that wraps around the restaurant with a deck perfect for a pre-dinner drink in Summer.
Port Elliot is about a 10 minute drive and one of the most picturesque places I have ever seen. The Flying fish cafe on the beach serve fantastic coffee and fish and chips, Port Elliot township is gorgeous. Glad to have found somewhere to stay close to Adelaide.
