“Authentic Bedouin Experience”
Reviewed November 29, 2016 for a stay in November 2016

Saleh's Safari Camp is not easy to find on TA, with reviews scattered all over other tours. I have the experience of a two night stay at this camp. The weather wasn't perfect, but Saleh and his family's sincerity and friendliness were.
Saleh is very accomodative with my intentions not to visit the usual day tour sights, such as the Lawrence-related items. Instead, I was brought to locations that are off the beaten track, yet no less beautiful.
Saleh's wife cooks tasty and delicious meals, a comment that was echoed by all other guests I had dined with. It must rank as one of the top authentic Bedouin cuisine that you can find in the desert. Maybe you will have the good fortune to enjoy an earth oven meal if I did.
One thing I noticed was all (really) the guests were either return visitors to Saleh's camp, or brought along by such people. I guess it speaks volumes about the experience.
It is admittedly no luxury, but if you want a genuine and sincere Bedouin stay, Saleh must really rank up there.

“Great experience for family, book with confidence”
Reviewed November 1, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

I booked with Saleh direct by phone after looking at his very informative website (wadirumtours.com). Our tour included an overnight stay, dinner and breakfast for all four of us (two adults, two children under 10), and we also added a camel ride and sandboarding in the dunes. Saleh is very knowledgeable about Wadi Rum and showed us many highlights and beautiful spots where we could explore, scramble and walk through with the children. Saleh's wife, Alia, prepared a wonderful home cooked dinner which was incredible and we all ate together at their quiet and secluded camp. The camp was a nice size, not sprawling, but perfect for a few families to get together, chat and enjoy the atmosphere and surroundings. During the night, the wind picked up, so one of the doors had to be kept shut with a rock. The children are still impressed with getting up close to the wildlife. We enjoyed very genuine hospitality, and many cups of tea!

“Wadi Rum Tour”
Reviewed October 26, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

A well arranged and really good value day trip organised by Saleh. I came across his details online while trying to find a cheaper quote to the one my Hotel gave me.

He arranged for someone to pick me (and my sister and a mate) up from my hotel in Petra to then join him in Wadi Rum for the tour (the driver also dropped us back off to the hotel). Commuination was clear and he gave us all the necessary details.

The driver was a nice enough guy (we booked him for another excursion to the Dead Sea). Car was clean and a decent ride.

When we got to wadi rum Saleh was friendly and chatty-he speaks English well. He took us to all the main points of attraction and even got us sand boarding! He arranged a short camel ride for the 3 of us too at the start of the tour-this was an extra charge but well worth it! At the end of the tour he also built a little fire and made us tea just before we all saw the sun set!

The total trip inc. travel took 7.5 hours. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Saleh. I'm always nervous about booking private tours that aren't arranged through companies or hotels but I had a very good experience with Saleh. For the discount you get from some of the extortionate prices hotels charge it's worth it!

“Excellent time in Wadi Rum”
Reviewed July 8, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

My wife and three girls spent 2 days and one night at Saleh's camp and it was an excellent time with his family and children. They were such great hosts and it was so nice to have an experience that didn't feel like a packaged tour.

We had a wonderful dinner and sat under the stars w/ his family looking at the constellations and also playing games on the ipad. it was like visiting family. we had an hour long camel ride and the following day, cruised around the desert w/ Saleh's brother. He led us on some very intricate climbing that was both challenging and not for the faint of heart. we also went sand boarding... the climbing part was not so easy in the 100+ F heat. Regardless, it was something we had to do.

All in all, it was a very unique experience, something very different from most of our trips which have revolved around the beach and surfing.

If you're looking for a more immersive experience, i highly recommend you give Saleh's camp a try.

“Fab Desert Camping”
Reviewed May 23, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We had a day tour around Wadi Rum with lunch and included a "behind the veil" experience with Saleh's wife Alia in the afternoon / evening out at the campsite. We helped milk the goat, prepare a traditional Jordanian meal in the evening and had fun dressing up in traditional clothes. We were going to do some henna as well but ran out of time there was so much to entertain us.
Wadi Rum is beautiful with lots of photo opportunities, different landscapes and some short walks. Would very much recommend it.
Although blankets are provided we were cold at night - even in mid-may so take something warm with long sleeves. We had a campfire in the evening which kept us warm until bed.
