“Seaview Resort Excellent Property”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2012

We've been to India many times and stayed in many places this was our first visit to Patnem Beach 4 weeks into our trip. We booked a room at Seaview Resort in advance with good communication from the owner Eddy. Our room was spacious, bright, clean, good beds, fresh bedding, TV, good shower, fan and balcony. The owner, his family and staff always made us feel welcome and let us be to enjoy our holiday. If we had needed anything I've no doubt that they would have assisted us. Friendly people. It's a great location with the beach a short walk away and nice to get your feet on solid ground after being on the sand all day. The Chai Shop nearby is tasty and there's a little convenience store for supplies. Easy transport to other beaches and surrounding area.

Apart from making us wait 35 mins to get the room, it was great.

Clean, bright, with a balcony, it was a 5 min walk to Patnem beach.

The downside is that during monsoons the beach is bare, so you have to get out to Palolem for food etc. It wasn't a problem for us as we had a car, otherwise we'd have been in a pickle. There are buses from Patnem to Palolem, but they are far and few.

A saving grace was the chai shop next door that makes good tea and nice samosas :)

We had Patnem beach to ourselves because the crowds were only at Palolem.

I'm sure in the peak tourist season there are more options to eat and drink around the place. And if you have a bike at your disposal you should be fine!

Room Tip: Ask for one that's in the front so you have a better view from the balcony.

As others have commented, there is no seaview at the Seaview! However, it’s not too far to walk to the lovely beach and there are some stalls selling sarongs/beachwear on the way for a little retail therapy. The southern part of Goa has retained its charm and is a great place to relax and unwind at the end of a trip around India. The restaurant at the Seaview is good, in fact, after we moved on to Rajbag, we still came back to the Seaview for a meal. The room was basic but clean and we had a private bathroom. The only thing that freaked me a little was the frog in the bathroom, but I came to consider it as a pet :)

We stayed here for 9 days in March 2012. Our first impression was really negative. We had booked a Deluxe A/C Suite, as we by doing this would get an extra bed for our son. The room was not a suite, it was a standard A/C room and the extra bed was a mattress on the floor. Our room also overlooked the dry backside of the hotel, not the green and lush garden in the photos. We were really disappointed.

But we got used to it. Our son thought about it as our home. We relaxed on the balcony watching the cows passing by. We appreciated the location - just a few steps from the very nice Chai Shop and the thali place just across the street. With our 'own' riksha driver hanging on the corner, not by the beach where the rest of the drivers were.

And then comes our departure. Two days before our flight we are cancelled on our domestic flight! A lot of e-mail and phone calls, and we are rescheduled to depart one day early from Goa. So, on the departure day my husband and son strolls down to the beach, while I just head to an internet place by the beach to browse for a place to stay in Bangalore and print our new tickets - and I found out that we are cancelled again! 5 hours before our departure. The internet place is supposedly some kind of agent for Jet Airways, but just advise us to google for the toll free number to the flight carrier...

Therefore, I ran up to the hotel and got hold of Eddy at the reception. He is already booked to take us to the airport in less than 2 hours. He and I google different flights and phone numbers to Jet Airways, he calls Jet Airways on several numbers - no use. 3 hours before our departure we are still cancelled and we can't get through! Therefore, we just have to rush to the airport (more than an hours drive). Eddy is a very good driver - fast but cautious! At the airport he comes with me and talk to the Jet Airways office. We are back on - I don't know how, probably due to the previous e-mail where we had been confirmed. So we made it to our flight!

So, again - don't expect deluxe, because it is not, but it is decent and we were really happy for all the help we got when we really needed it!

We stood at Sea View Resort at Patnem Beach / Goa in December 2011 untill 10th of January 2012. It was a very nice stay. Room was good an clean. We can recommend this Hotel very much. Eddy the owner is a very nice man and he will give help in every situation. The position of the Hotel in not fare away from the wonderfull Patnem Beach, five minutes to walk.
The attached restaurant is managed by a Nepali, a very nice man and he was very helpfull.
A very good place to spend holidays. We hope, we can come sometimes again.

Room Tip: Rooms to the noth at higher floor is nice, because You have at Your balcony a fine view at the palm...

this was our last place to stay during a 3 week trip round kerala and then up to south goa. we arrived from paradise - agonda which is only 5 km away to patnem expecting it to be similar but we were wrong. patnem is full of groups of gap year kids so from the start we wanted to be back in agonda. i had booked seaview resort on expedia and prepaid my stay. i paid £167 which is expensive for india. we were shown to our room which was in the annexe overlooking wasteland and countryside. the room was very comfortable and the shower was hot but our problems started when my husband accidently lost the pad lock key which was to lock our room. we went and told the owner who was rude and no help at all. he didnt give us another key or another pad lock - he just left us standing there and ignored us. so we went back to him and asked him if he was going to do something about it so we could get into our room. he was rude to us and said we would have to buy another pad lock. good start!! eventurally we were given a spare key ( what is the point in having a lock on ur door if there are copies of keys) and thought things would be ok but he was ignorant to us the whole stay there and so was his son. at nighttime it was hard to sleep due to dozens of stray dogs meeting on the wasteland next to our room and everynight at 11pm the dogs would howl and bark and that would go on all night. i like dogs but i was sick of them at patnem!! for the whole of our stay we hired a scooter and went visiting the other beaches around that area which was lovely.
getting back to the accommodation though - when it came to our final day i asked if we could keep the room on till 6pm as our train wasnt until 9pm and we needed somewhere to shower - he said we would have to pay 1100 rupees - which was fair enough but it was his attitude. i agreed reluctanly anyway. on the final evening the son followed me to our room and he said we owed him 500 rupees for the padlock. we explained that we only had be given a spare key but he wouldnt listen . he was rude and blunt!! i told him we shouldnt have to pay and that it was an accident losing the key but he made it clear by shouting at me that we needed to pay or go to the market and buy one. i had to ask him to go away and leave me alone and to speak to my husband - which he done rudely!!! on our departure we gave them 500 rupees for the key and walked away with them shouting at us !! i would never recommend this place and looking at previous reviews other people found the owners rude aswell. in this area of india there is no need to put up with behaviour like this as many of local people who own huts or bungalows are friendly and accommodating.

Stayed three nights at Seaview Patnem in February 2011. Paid INR1,500 for a double room. It was clean, reasonably spacious and comfortable. While the place was run pretty efficiently compared to other places in India, the owner was not particularly friendly.

The attached restaurant served decent food and good masala chai. The staff there were friendly.

We took the tour that Seaview Patnem offered – to a spice plantation, Palolem, and Colba beach and we thoroughly enjoyed it. While it possibly may have been more expensive than if we had done it ourselves, it was nice to not have the hassle of arranging the details.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay but thought that the price was slightly high for what it was.
