“a stay in the country”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

A pleasant three night stay. Lovely house and pool in a rural location near all selection of sights (e.g. the surreal and wonderful Dali museum, beaches, local towns). Lots of advice from Jordi and Juan Carlos on where to go to sightsee and where to eat which was more than welcome.
Comfortable rooms with good bathrooms . Breakfast was good and varied. Breakfast with disco music was novel for one morning, but probably not worth repeating.
No evening meals apart from breakfast as the cook had broken her hand and was not available. Going out for dinner in the evenings always entailed a car journey – it would have been nice to spend an evening at the hotel with snacks or dinner . One night just stayed for wine without dinner as did not feel like going out! Pleasant, but would have been even nicer with something to eat.
It’s a rural location so usually quiet, but there was a rowdy night from a nearby house one night which kept guests awake – obviously not the fault of the hotel, but nowhere is peaceful if the neighbours decide to party.
Follow the advice of the hotel and do not use Satnav to locate the hotel – a good local map is needed to navigate the roads as there is a new road which is there to confuse the Satnav! A ten minute ride back from a restaurant one evening became a 1 hour adventure!

Room Tip: Room 2 was a little dark and becasue of this seemed small. Room 3 nice and bright. Had two rooms as...

When we send the booking confirmation we recommend our customers not to use the SatNav and we give them precise instructions to reach our house. The routes are excellent but they are very new and SatNavs still do not recognize them.
At check-in we give our guests a detailed map of the entire area with the location of about 15 nice restaurants located within a distance of 5-10 minutes’ drive from our house.
Our establishment is a B & B and we do not have a restaurant. On our website we explain that in the low season we only serve dinner on Saturday upon request from at least three bedrooms. Unfortunately the cook was ill when these guests stayed in our home.
If guests do not want to go out for dinner we allow them to bring food into our house. They can eat in the public areas and we provide plates, cups, cutlery, napkins ... to make it easy for them. Many people do it because there are some good food shops and takeaways nearby. In our self service bar we offer local wines and beers.
We live in a quiet village with about 150 inhabitants. There is a very limited social life. During these guests’ stay there happened to be a meeting of the neighbours’ association. It was on a holiday and it lasted until eleven at night.
We like to liven up breakfasts with music. We almost always play classical music but that weekend we had a problem with our laptop and we had to use our Ipod. This time we played soft pop. We apologize for inconvenience caused to these clients. It is true that some songs might have been a bit too lively for a morning meal but we didn’t feel that it was a nuisance for our guests because we could hear some of them humming and whistling to the music.

A beautiful house and the most charming hosts. Jordi and Juan Carlos have taken care of every detail: all the rooms are spotless and well decorated; the breakfast is delicious and varied (they prepare different savoury treats and sweets every day, as well as serving high quality local produce); the honesty bar is a nice touch, as is the huge sitting room perfect for relaxing with a coffee or a glass of wine. The village itself is nothing to write home about, but once you are ensconced at l'Hort you forget about the outside world and may not want to leave. You should, though, as there are wonderful places to visit nearby which these amazing hosts will recommend ((Sant Marti d'Empuries is a must).

Juan Carlos and Jordi have created a beautiful, relaxing and welcoming home with such taste and flair. The breakfast was of good quality and varied the days we stayed. Details such as the change of tablecloths for breakfast, music and lights in the garden enhanced the dreamy ambience and made one feel like a special guest.

One of my all time favourites, this was a fantastic experience. As long as you have a car to get out and about this is a beautiful house to stay in......the whole ambience is chilled and relaxed from the pool area to the honesty bar. The hosts were always available if required and breakfast was the most relaxed I have experienced in a long time. The gardens and the house in general are immaculate and a pleasure to sit in and admire.Romm and bathroom first class.....

The most beautiful house and garden I have ever stayed At. A lot of love and dedication went into making this place an oasis of relaxation. Jordi, Juan Carlos and the two dogs are welcoming and charming hosts.

There are many lovely, small beaches in the area, within 10 minutes drive, where you can hire sunbeds and parasols. Altogether a great area for a relaxing, stress free holiday

To stay in L’Hort de Sant Cebrià is like staying in heaven.
Everything is perfect!
The beautiful rooms, the beautiful house, the gorgeous garden with swimming pool and especially the most charming hosts, Jordi and Juan Carlos.
Jordi and Juan Carlos will serve you delicious breakfast and ,(if you want), directed you to the most beautiful places to visit.
L’Hort de Sant Cebrià is located in the picturesque village Toroella de Fluvia.
From the hotel you can take trips to the beach (only 4 km away), to Girona, Cadeques and other well-known places.
No need to stay anywhere else then in this peacefully, idyllic place.

Staying in L’Hort de Sant Cebria is balm for the soul.

This is just the most perfect place to stay. The house is delightful and furnished with great taste.
Jordi and Juan are welcoming and relaxing hosts who directed us to the most beautiful places to visit which we would never have found by ourselves. Breakfasts were lovely and the classical music in the background just added to the pleasure. We will return for another holiday without any hesitation.
