Australians abroad. Stayed 2 nights and joined on the second night by French friends from Paris and Limoges. Friendly, welcoming hosts. family atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. Still a work in progress but all the more interesting for that fact.Thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable time. Great way to meet new people. be sure to visit the escargot farm next door.

Like many before us we stayed one night and wished it had been more.
Christine made us so welcome and although not cooking on the night of our stay recommended a super restaurant in the local town.
The Manoir is charming and the bedrooms have been refurbished in a delightful way.
Breakfast was spent chatting with Christine and her husband and learning about their project renovating this wonderful old shooting lodge over the past ten years.
If you are thinking of staying in the area when travelling in France - stay here - you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Only 5 rooms available all of which have been tastefully refurbished.

We went back to this B & B in the height of the summer season to see if it was as good. It was. The warm welcome from Christine, this time with her delightful husband at her side. Excellent room - though a different and slightly smaller one. There were three other families staying and before the home-cooked dinner, we were treated to an aperitif in the garden - a very good way of letting guests get to know each other a bit - or to try and find a common language. Super breakfast as before. The silence and tranquillity of the house and grounds are such a welcome respite after a long day's drive.

We stayed for 3 nights in this interesting property we felt very welcome and the owner Christine and her husband could not have been more hospitable. The building as they both readily admit is a work in progress with some of the building still be restored but that does not detract from the real welcome and rather quirky charm or on guest accommodation. The guest bedrooms are on the top floor up several flights of steps but when you get to the floor the traditional dark panelling has been turned into a fashionable and attractive dove grey with all the old beams being limed. Our room was similarly decorated with a very comfortable bed, and really nice massive wet room style rain shower.
Breakfast and evening meals if you want them are served in the dining room, with one large table accommodating all which makes for a really interesting way of meeting people and sharing experiences. Christine works hard at sourcing as much as possible locally and putting together local menus for both breakfast and dinner. She really responded to individual needs and when she heard I was on a diet put herself out to accommodate this.
Similarly Christine puts extra into the service she provides booking tickets on line, pointing out nice places to visit and we noted that she arranged all sorts of things for other guests staying at the same time. All this was topped off by taking us to the train station so we could go into Paris – what can I say real service.
If you are in this part of France then this is a good place to spend a couple of days. Also if traveling with children there is a large garden which weather permitting gives space to run around in and let of steam.

What a lovely place, a hunting lodge still in the process of being restored by the owners with 5/6 smart rooms in lovely grounds convenient for a north/south road trip. They speak good English and welcomed us as into their home with an evening meal and breakfast in their dining room with interesting conversation with them and other residents - and the children - and cats...and swallows .

First good sign, a friendly welcome from the owner, a lady whose English was infinitely better than my French. Then the room – well-appointed and furnished, excellent bathroom with piping hot water, and a large, comfortable bed. Above all, lots of space.

Although evening meals are offered, we asked for the 16 euro cold supper. This consisted of a large, home-made leek tart, duck liver paté and a mixed salad, followed by cheese and chocolate mousse. Oh, and a very nice Côtes du Rhone.

The house is set in large grounds surrounded by farmland. Apart from the sound of woodpeckers, the best thing was the almost total silence.

Breakfast was typically French – juice, yogurt, lovely bread, croissants, honey and jam and coffee.

The whole experience was made even better – for us – by the presence of two very sophisticated and well-behaved cats.

We will certainly return. The only drawback for some visitors would be having to walk up stairs to the second floor accommodation.

This is a lovely former hunting lodge with just 5 rooms. It is being lovingly and painstakingly restored by the current owners who so far have spent 8 years working on it. They are very friendly and hospitable, and happy to help in any way they can.
The room we stayed in was excellent - plenty of space and a large and modern bathroom.
The food was home-cooked and based on Normandy fare using locally sourced produce where possible.
Although this is a country property it is only 15 minutes drive from the nearest major town, Dreux, and very convenient for major routes south from the channel ports.
All in all we thought this an excellent find and wouldn't hesitate to return.
