“Tranquil setting in a beautiful village”
Reviewed May 28, 2011

I stayed at this B&B for 3 nights while visiting Giverney. The farm house is a delight and the village is beautiful. The doorway to my room was cradled in roses, the room was comfortable and airy. The hostess was gracious, kind and gave me a lot of information about the area. Breakfast included breads and her mothers home made jam. Giverney is 3 mile away which made for an energizing walk to the gardens. I highly recommend this tranquil location while visiting Giveney. I know I will be back as soon as possible. Be sure to arrive in Vernon before 4; cabs stop running rather early.

We needed somewhere for one night while we visited Monets Garden. What a great find - beautiful surroundings on the edge of the forest, comfortable and clean rooms and lovely hosts who both speak excellent english ( Carl's South African I think, so he would). A spit from the gardens but also near to La Roche Guyon village ('most beautiful villages in France') which is just beautiful and the 14th century chateau, built into the side of the cliff, is well worth a visit as is the local boulangerie. This is B & B so expect to drive into Vernon (5 mins away) for supper, but Carl told us some great places to try. Breakfast is a gut busting delight of local produce and home made preserves, we were even given some leftovers for lunch! If you want to try something away from corporate hotel land this is it - enjoy.

If you are visiting Monet's gardens, it is hard to beat this for convenience and value. It is spotlessly clean, charmingly decorated, and run by a lovely young couple who make every effort to ensure your stay is comfortable. Located in a picture-perfect hamlet, a 5 minute drive from Monet's parking lot. Since my main interest was visiting the gardens and the beautiful Impressionist museum, I only needed a decent place to sleep. Forest Farm B&B would be a lovely base if you are spending a few days visiting the many beautiful places in the region.

We received a very warm welcome at Forest Farm and enjoyed a courtesy glass or two of the local cider. Monsieur shared his local knowledge of the area with us and made some great recommendations on where to go, what to see and where to eat out. Our family suite was very spacious and spotlessly clean and the decor was lovely. Breakfast was a generous helping of cereal, freshly baked breads and croissants, homemade jams all washed down with locally made apple juice and delicious coffee. The girls even had chocolate made for them. The location is in a gorgeous rural village in close proximity to Giverny and Monet's Gardens. Highly recommended.

We had apleasant stay (my mother, her husband, my husband and our 2 year old child)
at Forest Farm, while visiting Normandy. The owners really made our visit something extra, very pleasant and helpful. Large and clean rooms, very genuine and not so "touristique" at all! The only thing we missed was a bit more helthy options at the breakfast
(croissants and jam are nice but...). A really special and great place!

What a lovely time I would like to share with everyone going to Giverny for a few nights to get away from the busyness of Paris.Monets Gardens was beautiful this time of year. Our host Carl and Michelle really made us feel at home with there wealth of information of what to do in the vicinity and great restuarants. Our rooms were spotless and cosy with decoration well chosen.Breakfast was great typically french with home-made jams and pure butter croissants.Would go back in the summer 2010.

  • Liked — the setting in private forest
