We stayed here on the recommendation of friends and found it to be a perfect palce to stay in Provence. Sablet is a beautiful little peaceful village and this house is riight in the heart of it next to the church yard.
We were there in winter and found it very comfortable with everything you could possibly need (internet, DVD player, fantastic kitchen, washing machine etc.). We stayed with our four year old son who loved it, particularly the view of the church from the courtyard. It was a bit cold to sit outside but I did have one or two lovely Cote du Rhone reds to keep me warm :-)
We still talk about our lovely holiday and the Fer a Cheval at Sablet was a highlight. Pippa was extremely helpful with the arrangements and everything went without a hitch. I can recommend a walk to Seguret as it is a beautiful little fortiied village nearby. It is only a short drive to Vaison la Romaine, Orange and Avignon via wonderful vineyards, chocolate/nougat factories and boulangeries. And don't forget the fantastic pizza place in Sablet - awesome!
I could not recommend it highly enough! Bon chance!
Cheers,
Nicolas

We stayed in Le Fer a Cheval for 3 weeks last spring. It was the highlight of our year trip around the world. The house became the base for our exploration of Provence. All of the major sites in Provence were within easy reach of Sablet. Returning every evening, we enjoyed the beautiful house and the picturesque village. The house was well equipped and charming. The local bakery, fish stall, bar and grocery store provided a sample of French village life, with supermarkets only 30 minutes away. The owner provided excellent information to keep busy, or not, during our stay. We recommend the winery tour and hiking in the nearby hills.

My husband and I stayed at Le Fer a Cheval for 3 weeks and it was amazing! Sablet is a cute town with easy access to a wonderful market, hiking, great restaurants, and bigger cities if you want a break from small town life. The owner is super helpful, even offering suggestions and contacts for activities (wine tours, cooking classes, etc.). The house is clean, spacious, and stocked with everything you need. The best part is the patio - a great place for reading, eating, relaxing. We can't say enough great things about Le Fer a Cheval.

We spent a lovely two weeks a Fer a Cheval. The house more than met our expectations. It is spacious & a lot of care has been taken with the furnishings to give it a charm of its own.
It is very centrally located & a short walk downhill to the bakery, butcher etc. It neighbours the church (bells only chime by day) & is in a very quiet part of the villalge.
We used the upstairs sun roof for eating most of the time although at times it was a bit too hot to sit outdoors & possibly a bit more fixed shade is necessary.
There was plenty of information on the local region in the house & the owner, who lives nearby, was a good source of local knowledge.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Fer a Cheval. There is lots of good cycling around, some wonderful markets nearby & Sablet is a great place from which to explore the area.
Parking was a bit tricky at times but usually achieveable not too far f rom the house.
There is quite a steep & tricky staircase to beware of & the house is definitely not suitable for young children or older people.
We loved coming home after a day out to be welcomed by the neighbour's tabby cat & sit on the sunroof with something cool to drink & partake of the local produce.
We were also lucky enough to be there for the Seguret Wine Festival which was great.

We have stayed at Le Fer a Cheval twice and on both occassions have had a wonderful holiday. The house is very well equipped with a lovely atmosphere and good quality furnishings. The owners are exceptionally friendly and helpful and always on hand if you have any problems. Sablet is a lovely village, with boulangerie, supermarket, restaurants, bar and tabac and there is so much to do in the surrounding area. We would definitely stay again.

Clean, tidy, traditional, excellent all round. Right in the oldest part of Sablet. Very compact: perhaps not perfect for children, the property is actually part of the old town defensive walls. Public parking close by, short walk to boulangerie etc. Top kitchen, excellent outside deck area although it is close to the neighbours.
Excellent value. CD
