Me and my husband stayed at Cheadle House late in May this year after getting a £19 room only deal for one night. Wanting a night away from home and being close to the airport and Manchester, this sounded ideal.
We arrived at around 5pm on a Sunday evening, and there were only two other cars in the car park and we didn't see any other guests on our tour of the hotel . Despite this, we were shown to a room that overlooked the carpark and bins, and was the size of a matchbox. We weren't expecting luxury for the price, but were very surprised by how small and unkempt the room was-the curtains were mucky, the walls need painting etc. The TV was tiny, so be prepared to take your binoculars with you. We couldn't get any sky channels as promised, and the bed was actually two singles pushed together, which was very uncomfortable.
The room was sweltering later in the evening and there was no air con, and if the window was left open the proximity to the airport meant that passing plane noise was at deafening volume.
The only plus was the room service which was fair priced and prompt.
If i'd have paid more than £19 for this room then I would have been very disappointed, as it was, it was just about worth half of what we paid.

Dear Innerversion
Thank you for taking the time to post a comment about your stay.
i am sorry that the room did not meet your expectations. I am in the process of updating the TV sets around the property to more modern flat screens, and with regards to the general condition etc, I shall have my Head Housekeeper look into this room specifically and rectify any issues.
Thank you again for your review as comments both negative or positive are always appreciated.
If there is anything I can do for you in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Kind regards
Anna Bushby, General Manager at Cheadle House.

I had the unfortunate experience of staying in one of the "deluxe" rooms at Cheadle House. It is fair to say that this venue is in desperate need of refurbishment. The room appeared clean, if you ignored the heavy stains in the carpet. It was worrying to see the disabled hand rail in the bath was loose, and I state that politely. It was near impossible to get the right water temperature whilst having a shower. The dispenser for sanitary bags was also loose and fell off the wall. The toilet roll holder was on the wall behind the toilet and just above the cupboard which made it extremely difficult to reach. The pillows lacked quality and comfort and I suffered a sleepless night. Throughtout the night I opted to sleep without one which was a mild improvement. To make matters worse when we ordered our meal in the restaurant/bar (sausage and mash) the waiter arrived with only one meal and we were told the second meal would be brought out in 2mins. Subsequently, 2mins turned into 5mins then 15mins until finally my husband received his meal. Whilst waiting I had to request for my food to be taken back to the kitchen to be kept warm. Once we received our meals we had to chase the waiter for cutlery. The venue and service was a disgrace and I would discourage anyone from staying. The venue has all the appearance of a run down Premier Inn. Very dissappointed as I had high hopes after staying at Theobalds Park.

Hotel really designed for business people but we got a bargain break of 4 nights room only over Easter for 96.00 a couple and used the facilities of nearby Village Hotel for free.As stated by other guests the in room tv sets are very small and if watching from the bed be prepared to take binoculars.Don't know why they have to be so small.Rooms are otherwise quite large, clean and bathroom as you would expect.Free internet is available in reception area and staff are very helpful with any queries you may have.Breakfast is good value at 7.50 although not much choice if you want any sort of fruit or yoghurt. If you asked the staff they would try to accommodate you but not freely available.Didn't try the evening meals but looked to be a good choice.Again because more business people visit, not much atmosphere in dining area purely functional so we ate out.We ate a good meal in pub atmosphere at The Village Hotel 5 mins by car and The Griffin pub also few mins away. Also a couple of meals across road you can walk to Cheadle Royal part of The Premier Inn and no-one need drive. There are many other places to eat quite near and a couple of shopping centres.Overall a decent hotel for a base as long as you don't expect the luxuriousness of some other De Vere Hotels.

Stayed at Cheadle House on Sat night as we were visiting the Manchester Veledrome.

Good points:
-Cheap - we paid £29 for a double room
-Big room, nicely decorated, clean
-After a long journey we arrived earlier than anticipated and the staff were kind enough to let us in our rooms earlier than check in
-Conveniently placed - easy to find from the motorway and easy to get into Manchester city centre and to the velodrome from here
-Mirror in the bedroom next to a power point (its unbelievable how many hotels site the mirror on the other side of the room from the power points making styling ones hair rather tricky!)
-Lots of space in the bathroom to put down toiletries
-Free teas and coffees behind reception and filtered water
-Good powerful shower
-Easy quick check-in/check-out
-Polite and friendly staff

Bad points:
-The key to our room was missing and they couldn't cut a new one as their card reader was broken - there was always someone on reception to let us in but this was inconvenient and because of this we didn't feel we could easily make use of the communal areas
-Terrible bed - it dipped in the middle which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep
- Sheets on bed were horrible - scratchy sheet and blanket and was cold so had to put the yuck over-cover on top.....duvets please!
-TV was too small to see from the bed
-There was a ticking clock on the wall that my husband had to remove the batteries from

For the awful beds alone I would not recommend this hotel to a friend

We stayed here for 1 night as my daughter and her friend were attending the oasis gig...and celebrating her 21st. We paid 25.00 per room and couldnot believe what a lovely place this is.
Every member of staff we dealt with was pleasant and efficient. They even provided ice bucket, ice and champagne glasses for us ,so nice as we hadnt purchased it there.
The rooms were spacious with lovely bathrooms and really comfy beds.
Everywhere was immaculate....well until the girls returned from the gig in muddy wellies..i apologised toreception and they were brilliant about it.
There are free flowing coffee machines in reception which we really enjoyed.
We did not have breakfast however there is a john lewis store a few mins away ,restaurant serves lovely breakfast however did not openuntil 10am.
There is a restaurant in the hotel and a tgi friday' opposite.
We ate dinner at a fabulous indian restaurant at Didsbury called sangam 2,above pizza hut. Recommended by a very pleasant female receptionist. Only 5mins away by car and was some of the best indian food we have ever had and great prices.
Large secure car park on site.

My husband and I stayed at Cheadle House after getting a fab deal through the de vere website so we paid £19 a night for a 2 night stay, excellent start! As we are well aware of the class which the de vere hotels can offer (living near Slaley Hall) we didn't expect Cheadle House to be as grand or as exquisite for the price we paid.

However, the reception staff were fantastic (even better when we needed a bottle opener and they kindly loaned us one for the 2 nights we were there!!!), the building is beautiful and after reading reviews on here we knew the bar and restaurant facilities wouldn't really be open at a time which suited us but as we always go out to eat when we are away from home that did not bother us in the slightest. The hotel does have a more conference centre feel to it but that is all that can be expected when reading the description on the de vere website, not a problem for us at all. We never intended to spend a great deal of time at the hotel as we wanted to go sight seeing and shopping so this was an excellent place for us to base ourselves.

The bedrooms aren't huge but comfortable for a couple and there was stacks of storage space, bathroom was very clean as was the whole room. Even though it is very close to the airport we were not disturbed by aircraft at all...surprised by that actually when we pulled up and a big jet was coming in to land we just though Oh No!!! Obviously with the window open there is a bit of noice but I would expect that from any hotel near to an airport.

The free coffee machines were great, a little frustrating that we could not get sachets of proper coffee for our room (only decaf available in sachets) so it meant stumbling down to the ground floor when I got up to get us a cuppa but that was my only gripe.

Parking was good too and via a secure barrier so no worries about not getting a space.

All in all a lovely hotel, everything you need for a little get away and we will definitley be returning!
