“Great place!!!!”
Reviewed May 8, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

We stayed for one night enroute to UK and after a thoroughly enjoyable stay we rebooked on return journey home. We were given a very warm welcome from Daniel and shown to a beautiful spacious room - spotlessly clean. Breakfast was pastries, bread, homemade cakes and jams Also yoghurt and fresh orange juice. There is a well equipped kitchen and dining area for guest use, also dogs welcomed. Will recommend

“A unique and special experience.”
Reviewed August 23, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed for 4 days in one of the beautiful vintage caravans and had a lovely relaxing time and could have easily stayed longer. The two caravans are set slightly apart from the main building, so you feel part of the B&B but also have your own space and privacy. The caravan (roulotte) is of course compact, but it had everything we needed, and actually contained more facilities than many self-catering apartments in which I've stayed. The kitchen area has a sink, hobs, fridge with small freezer and a microwave with an oven function, and there are tables for eating inside or outside. There was also a barbecue which we unfortunately didn't have time to use.

There is a private chemical toilet for the caravan we stayed in, but we tended to use the toilet in the main building, which is where our shower was also located. These were both clean and functional and always open. Despite being in a small caravan, the bed was a very good size, really comfortable and luxurious, with curtains for total privacy, a tv and plenty of shelf space. Understandably, there is no room for a cupboard, but lots of room under the bed for storage of clothes in suitcases etc. and the caravan makes good use of plenty of small shelves and drawers for things like washbags, suncream, wallets, keys...

Daniel was a great host - very knowledgeable about the local area and with good suggestions of where to visit, eat and shop in each of the towns or villages nearby. We visited Abbeville, Amiens, St Valery and Hestin - all reached in under an hour's drive. Boufflers however is very small and entirely residential. I don't think there were any shops, cafes or bars nearby. The only journey we did on foot was to the very pleasant restaurant, 'Chez Nathalie' in Le Boisle, but it was over an hour walking each way and often without a footpath, although the road was quiet.
Breakfast was fantastic - homemade jams, cakes and yogurt with croissants and bread - and big enough that we didn't need to eat lunch!

The swimming pool was good, warm enough and available throughout the day until 10pm and there is lovely sun terrace alongside it. It was also lovely to be so close to the animals' field (a shy horse and a very friendly goat). All in all, a really enjoyable and peaceful holiday and a typical experience of the best of rural France.

“Great place to stay. Peaceful and beautiful.”

My family and I stayed here for four nights during some very beautiful weather. Daniel and Alexander are very friendly and helpful hosts. The accommodation is very clean and the breakfasts are fresh and plentiful. Daniel is very knowledgeable on things to do in the surrounding area. We used it as base to visit St Valery Sur Somme (which is great if you have young kids because of the steam locomotive that runs from here), Albert (for the WW1 memorials and cemeteries), and Azincourt and Crecy.

“Welcoming rural retreat with an indoor heated swimming pool.”
Reviewed September 3, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

I image most guests will, from the arrival and friendly informative welcome from the owners until their departure, will enjoy their stay, we certainly did. Having booked all of the four guest rooms we enjoyed the free run of the tastefully converted barn conversion and the facilities. All guest rooms are decorated and maintained to a high standard. The lounge comfortable and relaxing. We all took full advantage of the covered heated pool and when occasionally blessed with sufficient sunshine we sat out on the adjoining terrace. The property is rural and allows you to escape to hustle off daily life though it is in easy reach by car of a few nice towns and villages with all the amenities you need, though unlike major cities, businesses close early. You are easily within 1-2 hours of all WW1 battlefield memorials and several major cities if you wish to venture out and travel. A two hour drive puts you in Belgium and Ypres for the 8pm Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate (a once in a lifetime place you must visit, see and pay your respects). The owners/hosts Daniel and Alex are very pleasant and helpful and have a nice property. If you want a welcoming rural retreat with the bonus of a heated indoor swimming pool you may struggle locally to find one better. Well worth a visit, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

“Lovely people, lovely place”
Reviewed July 20, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

From our warm welcome to the sad moment when our hosts waved us off, we were made to feel more like good friends than passing strangers at Les Songes de L'Authie. Daniel and Alexandre could not have done more to make us feel at home. They have created a real haven of peace and tranquillity here, the rooms being comfortable and tastefully decorated, full of character, with the new and the antique blending perfectly. We were lucky enough to use two rooms, both completely different but both delightful.

The outside area is also extremely attractive and Daniel and Alexandre have put lots of rustic tables and chairs at the disposal of their guests. The pool is amazing and open to guests for a very large part of the day. Our daughter made full use of that facility!

There is a lovely "salon" for the use of guests, complete with TV, comfortable seating, microwave, fridge and dishes which we used for preparing our own light lunches and suppers. Breakfast, however, is a real treat - almost everything is home-made from the jam to the yoghurt and the many cakes and the fabulous freshly squeezed orange juice!

This was also a pleasant time to chat with Daniel who answered all our questions about the area, gave us recommendations about trips and even booked restaurants for us when needed. We loved the area and Daniel's advice helped us get to know it quickly.

Oh, and the animals! Many of them have been rescued by Daniel and Alexandre and they all add to the lovely homely feel of the place. Like their owners they are extremely friendly but not overpowering!

We have visited many Chambres d'Hote in France but Les Songes de l'Authie ranks number one with us.
