Great food, well presented in a cosy and interesting setting-wonderful ambience-be sure to order the chicken pie! That said, all the meals in our party of 13 was delicious and plates went back empty. Good wine selection as well

Bar Bar Black Sheep created a lot of positive publicity in the Riebeeck Valley when this venue first opened in Riebeek Kasteel. It had a creative menu and wine list and an interesting eclectic almost bohemian feel to it, and was a refreshing addition to the dining scene there. After changes in ownership and some years on, whilst the staff remain good, and the menu inventive but somewhat curious ranging from goat stew to lambs hearts, where is the soul? There appears to be no owner nor host presence. Yet again on a long weekend, a Sunday and Fathers Day, a supposedly booked table for 7 remained unoccupied whilst assorted 'walk-in' customers were turned away, not our problem, we had booked, but I'd be concerned if I owned it. This would not have happened had there been an owner or hospitable manager eager for business around. Sadly its good but seems to have no heart, soul nor its original zest. Not sure we'll be back.

Thank you for your well drafted review. While the booking of 7 did phone to confirm that they are on their way (and they did pitch up) we value your observations and will keep them in our considerations going forward.

Kind regards.

Warm feel and food was good but not quite as good as I expected. The pork belly was slightly dry and the tuna was overcooked (presumably having stayed on the warm rack for too long).
