Brilliant accommodation. We had 14 people in our group and you wouldn't know it. House is well appointed, everything you need. Grounds are immaculate and the caretaker is on hand if you need. In walking distance to the town of Vacqueyras which if you are fortunate enough to be there for Bastille day is a must. Highly recommend this Villa.

I stayed in villa theophile for a week in the month of July, I can say I have never stayed in a place so amazing! a huge chateau with more then enough room even with 14 people staying in the one place, everything about the chateau was beautiful, the pool area especially for the summer heat! A short walk to the town of Vacqueres (would very much reccomend the wine festival), Ian the caretaker was very helpful and certainly gave everyone privacy throughout our stay, all in all I couldn't recommend staying at villa theophile enough with the amazing stay we had!

This was a great holiday rental meeting all our expectations. All of the rooms were very large offering plenty of space even for a large party. The pool area was great and the pool kept clean. The location offered easy access to local shops as well as places of interest.

“Villa Theophile exceeded all our expectations- thank you Phillipa!”
Reviewed August 26, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

We have just returned from two weeks at Villa Theophile. We were a party ranging at times from 6 - 15 people and from ages 3 - 73, coming from the Isle of Man; Seattle; Cape Town; Tacoma; London; Johannesburg; Fort Collins; Zithulele and Berkeley.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, playing frisbee on the beautiful lawn; table tennis in the ballroom; watching videos from the huge library; playing bridge and card games; walking; rock climbing; cycling Ventoux and generally enjoying the beauty of Provence. Unfortunately we didn't do the patio/ barbeque area and pool justice due to the very inclement weather.

The house is superbly appointed; excellent beds; numerous ablutions and an extremely helpful caretaker and his son who went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as it was. Thank you Ian and Jon.

“Beautiful French Chateau ideal for relaxing with friends”
Reviewed June 8, 2012 for a stay in July 2011

We have just booked to return to this Chateau for a third time in three years. We have had two terrific holidays there with a group of 12 friends and find it ideal for a house party.
The Chateau is approached from Vacqueyras; the turret of the house stands out from the landscape and is the first inkling that this is one very impressive house.
We found the house to be very attractive and very much in our view a classic “French Chateau”. It is beautifully decorated and set up as a home, we have certainly felt very much at home there. The outside space is ideal for a house party, with the main terrace and pool directly leading off the kitchen. There is a covered dining area on the terrace with an extraordinarily large barbecue and we have used that on a number of occasions. The pool is about 3 foot at the shallow end and “deep” at the other; it is certainly deep enough for us to dive into. The British caretaker keeps the pool in top shape.
The bedrooms are not big, they are huge, amusingly huge, (except for one at the back as I recall) we could have had a game of cricket in the room we had in the first year! The bathrooms are also large and well equipped – the en suite bathroom we had on our second stay was enormous and we could easily have had a party in that one room alone. Our bed was comfy on both stays with cotton sheets and pillows. The shutters at the windows were a bonus and did a good job of keeping the heat of the sun out as well as the early morning light.
The garden is large, I suspect in the region of acres with plenty of room to wander. It’s worth noting the house is set on a slope, which gives great views, though there are a lot of steps, I would additionally note that there is a fenced off drop to a local stream. Neither of these were a trouble to us, though if walking and or steps are a problem this would be an issue.
We found the quiet location of the house ideal for us. It took us about 15 mins to walk into Vacqueyras to pick up croissants in the morning, pop in for dinner in the evening and indeed sample wine at the many Chateaux that have their produce on offer. We strayed out to Orange, Avignon and Beaumes de Venise and found each easy to get to on good roads.
