Richard, our host at Chateau de Beaucastel subtly suggested we might enjoy the Perrin families restaurant --they own the Chateau--the restaurant is in a small village called Gigondas, about 5 minutes from the Chateau, its a terrific little village with art galleries and other shops in it and no cars-- a "petite" village tho, to be sure--well... it turned out to be as good as any we ate in southern France-- including the ones with Michelin stars-- service was exemplary, staff spoke excellent English and was most helpful, didn't push anything! Food was truly amazing. The presentation was memorable, but the taste--WOW! and all without the price attached to anything that has earned one or more stars, its not cheap, but it was an amazing lunch--
