“Excellent restaurant in quaint small town”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

When we arrived at the front door it was locked and no one in sight. The sign in French told us to go around the block and enter there. We did. It was an outdoor courtyard where they were seating their guests. The aroma immediately took over our senses. We all looked at each other with smiles on our facing knowing we arrived a great place. We weren't disappointed. For the most part, all 4 of us had different items and all were excellent. Add that the the atmosphere and it was a perfect evening. The staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. If I had more time here, this would be a "regular".

“Fabulous food”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

Set menu was great at around 30 euros a head. The chocolate fondant was amazing, although don't have it if you have gone for a meat main, you will be just too full. Staff were delightful, very helpful. Seems very popular with the French, make sure you book ahead.

“Good value for money in an attractive setting.”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

This was our "local" during a recent stay in Cabrieres, as such it was pretty good value, we ate there twice, both times it was full within an hour of the 7.30pm opening. The setting is very attractive, the staff attentive and great fun. Both our visits were pleasant experiences which we remember with pleasure. This restaurant seems to be torn between being the neighborhood bistro and aspirations for a Michelin star. The menu reflects this and, on the whole, both efforts succeed, with a few misses eg. as mentioned below, the foie gras ice cream. The recommendation below to go to Gordes for better food is all very well but, in summer at least, one would have to face the hordes and likely pay more, if one could find a parking spot that is.

“There are better places to go”
Reviewed August 1, 2012 via mobile

If you are on holiday, try to go elsewhere. The plates are well served, but the tastes are completely wrong. Sorbet ice with foie gras, tasteless cakes with fish, etc. The service is not bad, but it took 20 minutes to get the check.
If you are in this neighbourhood, go to the centre of Gordes where you will find way better restaurants.

“Pleasant lunch in beautiful setting”
Reviewed July 18, 2012 via mobile

An unplanned lunch stop at Le Vieux Bistrot turned out to be a pleasant experience. We were not too hungry and stayed away from the wine as we were driving. The risotto with squid was creamy and very good, the entrecôte decent, escargots recommended, and the cold meats very nice.

Altogether a little pricy, but the nicely shaded back garden was worth it on a hot summer day.
