“The perfect country retreat”
Reviewed August 25, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We travelled with another family so 4 adults and 3 children in total and stayed in the Farmhouse for one week.
This area of the Limousan is very remote and the drive for the last 10 miles is beautiful through woodland hills and virtually no traffic, a we
Come relief after busy Black Saturday motorways.
The farmhouse has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and all the beds are very comfortable and the kitchen well equipt.
Lovely patio area with a very large table and good sized BBQ and the ever friendly Bobby the cat.
We would have liked to have seen a shower in both bath rooms.

Outside is why you go, 500 acres of woodland with deer roaming and we ever had a visit from the two pigs who had a liking for apricots!
The pool is very large and deep with a number of comfy loungers to soak up the rays and watch the deer down by the Chateau.
The barn has a good games room and outdoor table tennis, while the boys enjoyed the drum machine it may not have been to everyone's liking!
A toilet in this area would be good to avoid wet feet and dirty a feet been traipsed through the house.
While we found very little reason to leave the local village provides everything you need, within 20 minutes you can join all the tourists at the recreational lake with beaches and water sports.

Le Puy is the perfect country retreat and we just wished we could have stayed longer.

“Gorgeous, relaxing French country holiday”
Reviewed July 1, 2012 for a stay in August 2011

Driving in to the estate was breath taking and the house and facilities did not disappoint. The house is beautiful and huge decorated sympathetically in French country style but with all the modern facilities (wifi, satellite tv, games room) that children, teenagers and parents alike need for a brilliant holiday. The pool is great and large enough to actually swim and the estate manager was ever-delightful and on hand for local advice and help when needed. We stayed with our six children ranging from 8 to 15 and I can honestly say that there was not one complaint from anyone - except that we were not there for longer - which we will be this year. We loved it so much we're going back for two weeks in August.

“Everything was Fantastic! Great house for families. log fires in the evening and loads to do in the day loved it!”
Reviewed November 30, 2011 for a stay in October 2011

We went last year in Summer and this year we were back in October. Both times we had a great time and will be back again next year. We stayed in the farmhouse but the great thing is you've got a huge estate to explore and the kids loved walking around with wildlife all around (pigs/dear/chickens the lot) Particuraly liked going in the Autumn as it was a great excuse to light the fire every night for marshmallows, glass of wine and family bonding! There's also an English couple Vicky and Luke who live on the estate who are there to ask any questions and steer you in the right direction. Basically everything we hoped it would be for a great family holiday!! Also went horse riding for the day at Villards only 5 mins away. Good value and wife who's a good rider went on fantastic trek around while I took the kids out around the local area on the ponies!! Really good experience and scenery out riding was amazing. Thoroughly recommend the accomadation and the area.

“The perfect French rural retreat - beautiful scenery, fantastic weather and stunning accomodation.”
Reviewed November 7, 2011 for a stay in August 2011

I would highly recommend staying at Le Puy as it is simply beautiful. I almost hesitate to write a review as I'd quite like to keep this place a secret as it's so lovely and basically so cheap!! It's the perfect place for a romantic getaway or a family holiday as it ticks so many boxes. There are acres of private woodland to wander through, amazing wildlife on the estate, including deer - some of them quite friendly! - a gorgeous heated swimming pool, lovely places to visit nearby, such as Lake Vassiviere, quaint French villages and towns, a couple of excellent restaurants if you choose to eat out, horse riding facilities, and loads more activities. If chilling out is more your thing you couldn't pick a better spot. You could stay the whole week and never leave the vast estate that the house is set in, as it's simply beautiful, and the accommodation in the house itself has everything you could possibly need. It's finished to a very high standard and yet manages to retain its utterly charming French character. I suppose it helped that we had such lovely hot weather but even if it rained or was cold you could just curl up in front of the open fire and enjoy a good book in a thoroughly relaxing place. I can't speak highly enough of this place and I just hope the prices don't go up any time soon as we'll definitely be going back!!!
