Just back from a wonderful 50th birthday celebration in the stunningly beautiful Dumfriesshire village of a Durisdeer. There were 7 of us in the party, so we split ourselves between the 5-berth Hope Cottage and the 2-berth Ferndale Studio cottage. Anne & Steve have made this small and very reasonably priced studio flat an absolute joy to stay in. It’s clean, well stocked and equipped, it has off-road parking and a beautiful garden which can be accessed easily via a set of French doors. Well worth a visit.
Me and my partner booked the Ferndale Studio Cottage for 3 nights as a graduation present and a chance to relax.
The cottage was amazing - spacious, light and clean. It is well equipped with all you need for staying. We were really impressed with the mini kitchen. There is also a lot of storage. The bathtub is especially amazing!
The setting of the cottage is also beautiful. We so enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful views/walks on the lowther hills which are right on your doorstep.
Hospitality wise, the owners were attentive and easy to contact during our stay. We initially had a problem with the WiFi however this was sorted the very next morning.
We would definitely recommend Ferndale to our friends and we hope the next time we are in Dumfries and Galloway we can come back again!
Ferndale Cottage is an excellent studio apartment for a quiet break. There is a bathroom (highly recommend a hot soak in the bathtub). It's a cosy and tranquil place to stay. There is a kitchenette for self catering, note no oven but we managed fine without one. The owner has left a good colIection of dvds, books and maps to use. It's a good base for exploring Dumfriesshire. There are also a few nice trails to walk around the cottage.
Wonderful cottage in a wonderful location. Peaceful, secluded and fantastic scenery
We'll be rebooking soon that's for sure.
