Gillbank House B&B
Ranked #5 of 5 Thornhill B&B and Inns

I spent a night here on my way back to my home in Worcestershire after visiting my daughter in Kintyre, Argyll. I remembered it with pleasure from a previous stay 5 years ago. The room was spacious and comfortable, bathroom well-equipped and convenient, and there was a seemingly new and excellent TV. I had a good dinner in the Thornhill Inn, nearby. For breakfast, always willing to try something new, I chose the 'Gillbank Special', which was herring with onion and hard-boiled egg. Delicious! The Danish owners are most welcoming and friendly.

This is a lovely B & B which truly lives up to the photos on the website. It is immaculately clean, comfortable and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble for Leif and Hanne and the breakfasts are lovely. My family have stayed here many times when visiting family in Thornhill and we have never been disappointed in either the welcome, the quality of the room, service, or the evening meal served at their sister hotel, The Thornhill Inn. I would recommend this B & B to anyone travelling North of the Border as a stop over or for a few days exploring. Believe me, this B & B is hard to beat for value for money. I don't think anyone will be disappointed.

Room Tip: The four poster room is delightful for couples who want a bit of extra charm

Stayed over the New Years period. Plenty of private parking. Made extremely welcome. Clean well appointed rooms. Bed was just right with pillows and duvet very warming and comfy on a cold and windy Scottish night. Breakfast was superb with Herring, Salmon and Haggis on the menu! I would not hesitate to stay at this B&B again and again.

We stayed here and the owners son is a complete shambles. Clearly a troubled individual who likes more than just a drink. Bad service and bad food with an owner whom displays a complete lack of respect.

Gillbank is well-located on a quiet street close to the business section of the pretty town of Thornhill. It is a most convenient base to use for exploring the ‘highlands of the lowlands” of Scotland. Wifi is not available in all guest rooms, but the signal is strong in the guest lounge.

Leif and Hanne are very welcoming and helpful with anything the traveler may need. The rooms and baths are spacious, spotless, and comfortable. Hanne's breakfasts were the best I had in Scotland. Her homemade marmalade is especially delicious.

This is a very well run B&B / Hotel where I have enjoyed fabulous customer service and contemporary comfort for a few years now.
The owners Lief & Hanne Gronberg have elevated their B & B status to 5star + and handle everything personally, where nothing is too much trouble.
There is nothing to touch the Gillbank if you're in South West Scotland.

Room Tip: All rooms I've stayed in are contempory and modern doubles/ twins/ single with en-suite wetroom...

A group of seven of us called for a night whilst cycling up to Ben Nevis. We were warmly welcomed into a beautiful house that lived up to the images posted on their web site ( I thought it looked too good to be true). Very accomodating (dried out our kit overnight and gave us an early breakfast when we asked). Enjoyed a great meal at their associated Thornhill Inn. Fantastic place that we all said we would look out for future visits.
