Wonderful, exotic, beautiful! Thanks heavens for this wonderful new restaurant on the beach front. We needed it badly in Strand! Views of the ocean is spectacular! Food is sublime, but what is really fantastic is the casual but sophisticated atmosphere. A gem in Strand.

I went to dine there with high expectations, having read the reviews, and sadly left feeling rather deflated and disappointed. In retrospect some of the reviews, especially the “love at first bite etc report” were so over the top ,subjective, and frankly ridiculous that I should have been alerted.
The menu is for me very limited and certainly on the expensive side, which is fine as long as you deliver-this meal did not.
The food was below standard. Fillet steak (R140) very fresh, and under seasoned, resulting in a very bland offering. The Bearnaise sauce simply did not deliver for some reason. It was very insipid. The vegetables were apparantly ‘Al Dente’ but were so undercooked that they were unpleasant.
The cheapest wine available on the wine list is R120 a bottle, and due to the fact that corkage is not allowed, dining here is always going to be pricey.
I found the atmosphere for diners marred by the lively Ladies bar which occupies half the floor area and has a completely different decor and feel. In fact, for me that’s just it - it may work well as an upmarket well furbished ladies bar, but in my opinion is unlikely to attract the average local diner.
People who write reviews have a moral obligation to readers to be objective and honest.
That’s the whole point.

The restaurant has an amazing ocean view and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter was engaging, knowledgeable and attentive and he certainly enhanced the experience. The food was very good and we will certainly visit the restaurant again. Reservations seem to be crucial, as the restaurant was packed on a week night.
