Rooms are ample in space and fully stocked. Full fridge and kitchen. Huge bathrooms. Daily maid service. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wireless is extra and so is parking, but both are reasonable. Perfect family place. Building exterior is tired and not mainted perfectly. Braai also available for use, pool table, kids games, gym (very basic), small pool.

Only the service in this place is gold crown. so thank you very much for your friendly hospitality. With regard to the one bedroom units I cannot say the same.

The bedroom has no privacy no windows or door only a curtain seperating you from the kitchen. No table in kitchen/sitting room to play games or eat at. Only a sort of bar counter against the wall. The sleeper coach is supposed to be a sitting place but is so uncomfortable in design definately one of the cheapest on the market. Not gold crown standards.

I am sure the bigger units is better. It was a mistake to settle for this one. Not nearly as good as most timeshares we go to. Sorry.

Strand Pavilion is a beautiful hotel located on beach road in Strand. We had two 3 bedroom units (112 &113). Room 112 had the most beautiful views of the mountain and the sea from the balcony and from 2 of the large bedroom windows. The reception staff was amazing and went out of their way to assist us by either giving us directions/ maps/ tips and even boxes for all the wine that we bought in Paarl.
There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby and the area has a very relaxed atmosphere.
The drive to the city centre from here takes about 20-30minutes.

Room Tip: the rooms right at the end of the corridors have the best views of the sea and mountains from the ba...

Our first room faced the street side and was cold and noisy. After a few days, we were moved to a waterside unit that was much more comfortable. Lucinda was very thoughtful and helpful. We did not drive while we were there, and she recommended an excellent guide. Rafeeq of Gazelle Tours is a knowledgable and helpful gentleman. My husband and I travelled alone with him so he was able to be flexible and adjust to our requests. We had difficulty using wi fi. We could not even get any reception in the so called hot spot. The attached restaurant was nice. Strand is a quiet town.

Room Tip: Avoid the street side

We were in a two bedroom unit for 5 nights and found it a vey nice place to stay. It is right on the beach, some of it is over the water. Not a great deal to do on the Strand, but location is a great place to go touring along the coast to Gordon's Bay, Betty's Bay etc or head out on tours into the wine area of Stellenbosch or shopping in Somerset West or just sightseeing. Being out of the main downtown area was an advantage from our perspective. Unit kitchen was well equipped, furnishings were adequate, however the Futon was very uncomfortable. The master bedroom was nicely appointed and with the ensuite was quite pleasant. The second bedroom however was 'a cave', an inside room with no window. We enjoyed our time in Cape Town and the accommodation was more than satisfactory. Reception staff and security personnel were most pleasant and helpful.

Visited in December with realatives over from the UK for a week. Ideal base for visiting the Winelands, good shopping in Somerset West, then into the Winelands and Stellenbosch. not much to do in Strand itself. Accomodation was clean and reasonably well kitted out, comfortable main bedroom but 2nd bedroon bit dark with only a high window which overlooked the central passgaeway. Friendly, helpful staff but don't bother with the pool which was cold and dirty, even in December.

Generally good value - Strand is not the best location in SA but is ideal for the Cape winelands and a day out in Cape Town. Strand Pavilion is also not the best location in Strand but it is central to the town and is not only on the beach but almost in the sea!

We used a 2 bed unit at the most seaward end of the resort and was ideal for our purposes. The Surfside cafe/restaurant underneath the resort is excellent value for breakfast and dinner and Bens on the Beach is the best restaurant within walking distance
