“Great location, wonderful facility”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2009

The Radisson is in a storybook cove, surrounded by quiet hills and a gentle shoreline. The pool is impressive with its zero-entry beach at one end and its infinity edge at the other. The grounds are well maintained by a staff that apparently takes pride in their work. The housekeeping staff is thorough and polite, also with an apparent pride in their work. The restaurant staff takes after the French tradition and will let you dine in peace, so don’t be startled if they don’t ask you “how is your food?” twenty times (like at an American restaurant). The rooms are spacious with large bathrooms and nice balconies. The flat panel TVs are nice, and the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon are available for those with rambunctious children. The sleep comfort beds allow you to adjust the softness of your mattress; both sides can be different. The rooms have European style outlets, so bring an adaptor. Also, make sure your car hand handle a pretty intense climb, because the resort road is steep and twisty. We had a 4-cyl Hyundai Accent and did just fine, so you don’t need a Hummer. Your experience with hotel check-out could vary depending on who’s ahead of you in line; some people are shocked to find that the mini bars have sensors that charge your tab if an item has been moved for more than 45 seconds, and they will have to argue their case and line-item their bill before you can leave. Overall, if my choice were between the Radisson on the French side and Sonesta on the Dutch side, the Radisson would be my absolute choice.

We stayed at the new Radisson during Christmas week. It is a stunning property! The pool area is fantastic. There is plenty of room so that you can always find a quiet spot. The "C' restaurant was beautiful--food was great and the service was top-notch! We found the rooms to be very comfortable. Of course, the newness of everything is a big plus!
Since the hotel had only been open two weeks, there were a few service glitches. Breakfast--for 2 of our 10 days--was quite a mess. They were clearly understaffed and struggling to keep up with their guests. However, this was corrected and we had no problems for our last 6 days there. The housekeeping was spotty at first. We had to ask for the replenishment of items--and turn down service was "occasional" for the first 4 days. We did complain to the manager. While we saw improvements, we were surprised to have no contact from the manager after submitting our complaints in writing.
The staff --at the bars, pool, restaurants--were very, very friendly. They continually asked if they could do anything for us.
New Years was lovely--live bands and fireworks on the beach.
We loved the location--and would return. I think they will quickly work out the kinks and become a truly first class hotel. I guess our biggest concern was that we paid top dollar for the hotel--while they were, in effect, "practicing". Seems like they should have been more responsive to our complaints in light of this!

This brand new resort just opened on Dec 13, although our booking was to start a few days earlier. So for a few days they put us up next door at the Le Domaine, also quite nice. When they did open for business, they became, in my mind, the new standard of luxury and exquisite service in the Caribbean!

This new property is hard to describe without seeming like a shill for the place!! The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful, right now a mix of newly planted mature trees and young landscaping that will really explode in a year or two. The pool is without question the nicest we've ever seen, almost 100 meters long and laid out in a meandering course. One side of it has an "infinity" edge, so it appears to flow right into the sea. The beach, which shares the entire cove with Le Domaine, is pure white sand and lapped by gentle waves due to a very effective breakwater about a quarter mile out.

The accomodations are nothing less than superb! They put us in a suite (there weren't many guests the first few days) which would satisfy the most demanding traveler. It was top-notch all the way...50" flat screen TV in the living room, 32" flat screen in the bedroom, and absolutely the most comfortable bed imaginable!!

The lobby is best described as a grand, open-armed welcoming.
The staff, from the housekeepers to the Genl Manager, was as friendly and as solicitous as we've ever experienced anywhere.
The beach and pool staff really have been well trained to take care of guests and I even took an introductory scuba lesson before we left.

This resort is situated in the northwest corner of the island, on the french side, and is within easy driving distance of both Grand Case and Marigot, and there are enough very good restaurants in those two towns to satisfy anyones taste. There is also a top-notch italian restaurant right at the hotel, as well as the hotel's own Restaurant C (C'est), very good.

This is Radisson's newest property, and they let out all the stops in bringing this one in!! From the physical layout and exceptional staff to the obvious care they take in making guests feel so well taken care of, this will be without doubt the new destination resort in the entire Caribbean!!! We will be regular guests there!!
