“Argiano really gave us the full experience of Italy.”
Reviewed July 4, 2010

My partner and I have just returned from a magical holiday in Tuscany, in Chianti - staying in the idyllic ‘Argiano’.

Argiano really gave us the full experience of Italy. The friendly staff are great, very welcoming and helpful in suggesting local places to eat, making reservations for us. All recommendations were fantastic as we thoroughly enjoyed the Tuscan cuisine. The staff gave expert advice on local activities and excursions, again booking for us, allowing us to simply relax!

Reaching Argiano in our hire car was a breeze. Approximately 10 kilometres from Siena, it is conveniently situated for our day trips such as visiting other villages, admiring the Tuscan architecture and spending time in Siena.

Every other day was spent at the lovely pool with recliners set amongst an abundance of olive trees and a beautiful garden.

In the evening our private courtyard was wonderful for a glass of wine, provided by and produced from the vineyards in Argiano in Chianti. The wine is superb, and with such an atmosphere and beauty of Argiano you simply let life go by.

The views are simply stunning from apartments and pool of the Chianti countryside.
Our room had a gorgeous beamed ceiling, and terracotta floors with a private courtyard and lemon trees. Also, an extremely comfortable bed and excellent bathroom.

It was so tranquil that we are planning to go back as we felt it was our first holiday where we truly felt relaxed.

I now understand how people say Tuscany is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

I can't wait to go back to Argiano - I miss it!!!

I have kept returning to Argiano for 8 years. It's so peaceful and you always get such a wonderful welcome from the owners, staff and other returning guests. It's a perfect location to explore Tuscany: 15 minutes from Siena, a 1 hour drive to Florence, and centred within easy reach of both the Chianti region and the Val D'Orcia. I look forward each year to chilling out in the evenings on my own private terrace with a bottle wine from the owners' own vineyard.

Argiano is an elegant, spacious home with extensive grounds and stunning views over the Tuscan countryside yet only 20 minutes from Siena. With everyone quietly and professionally looking after us, Buki cleaning every day and Carla preparing dinners, our only 'duties' were to relax by the pool or in the beautiful, calm grounds and soak up the atmosphere. Argiano has its own excellent wines and olive oil which added to our enjoyment. In all, a superb holiday for us all.

We have just returned from our third visit to one of the apartments at Argiano and it looked more beautiful than ever especially the gardens. If you want total peace and privacy in a wonderful setting 45 minutes drive from many ancient hilltop villages this is the place for you, that is if you manage to go anywhere after tasting the excellent wines produced on the estate! Our apartment had its own private terrace. Siena with its wonderful buildings including the spectacular Duomo and Campo and a range of sophisticated shops, if you need a touch of retail therapy, is a short drive away. We love it!!!

Set in the beautiful Tuscan countryside about 10K from Sienna, Fattoria Argiano is the perfect place for couples to spend a relaxing holiday. The accommodation in stylishly converted former farm buildings is very comfortable, each apartment with its private terrace and a lovely pool set in lush gardens. Service is friendly, welcoming and efficient. We have spent five holidays here and enjoyed every one.

Fattoria Argiano was a break from our annual vacation format. For this trip we decided to stay at an agriturrismo for our entire vacation (12 days) and not to venture into a hotel in one of the major cities. How we stumbled upon Fattoria Argiano was pure luck. Maybe it was the allure of its history that held the attraction and mystery for us but whatever, it proved to be a trip of a lifetime.

During our flight over from Southern California we kept talking about whether we had made a mistake. Was almost 2 weeks on a farm going to be a disappointment to two citified residents? But, once we walked through the stone walls of the estate, we were transcended into another time. Doubt and reservation fell aside as we stood within the walls of the thousand year old "hamlet". The "estate" had been meticulously restored to it's original design but with all the modern conveniences under the discriminating direction of the present owners,

Every morning started with a morning constitution around the breath-taking landscape of the farm and Tuscan countrywide followed by a breakfast prepared in our kitchenette served daily on our private patio. Recommendations for day trips were provided by Chiarra, the manager, and a "local" to Pianella, itself. She directed us to 23 different towns and sites around Tuscany that we captured in the over 1100 photos.

As for the wine that they produce? The best Chianti Classico in the valley!

Accomodations are clean and spotless.

Kitchenette provides all cooking utencils, dishes, toaster, refrigerator, french press, pots/pans to easily prepare meals.

The history of the farm was provided by Roz and Bruno, the owners. It was under their direction that the "vision" of Argiano materialized. Their blended histories and backgrounds influenced the restoration of a property that is pure in every detail.

As for it's location? Just be prepared to rent a car. Everything is relatively close by particularly if you're from Southern California. Siena is only 7 miles away and San Gimignano, Montalcino, Assisi and Florence are all less than an hour or so.

Follow Chiarra's recommendations. Get lost on a few back roads. And maybe you'll be lucky enough to find yourself off a dirt road standing in an open field asking a local farmer (non-English speaking) with his ancient pet goat at his side how to get to Highway 408. We did and we'll keep that memory for a lifetime.

Argiano is a stunning fattoria set amidst olive groves and beautiful vineyards. We loved the fabulous views from our terrace and from the swimming pool. Our apartment was spacious, private and tranquil with a lovely terrace overlooking the surrounding valleys. We found the location perfect , secluded yet great for exploring the chianti region of Tuscany but also close to many good restaurants . We especially enjoyed the excellent olive oil and superb wines produced on the estate. A memorable, special, magical place that should definitely be on everyones wish list. Fantastico!!! Non vediamo l'ora di tornare.
