“A very nice restaurant in a relaxing environment”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

In the past three years I, my family and friends have been enjoying the hospitality of the Palmiers restaurant each year in busy August a number of times both for lunch and for dinner. Over the years we have experienced progress in the quality of services and food. The atmosphere on Wednesday evenings with Flamenco is special and worth seeing more than once only.
The services of management and staff is very correct and timely, yet informal, matching the location and the target audience (people on holiday).
The card is – for good reasons – somewhat limited, enabling the restaurant to offer food of consistent quality.
In general the atmosphere is informal, relaxing and beyond any doubt very friendly with a high degree of tolerance; very suitable for the target audience at that location.
Given the quality offered and relaxing atmosphere we considered it certainly value for money and for the reasons above will return the coming year.

“A Very Pleasant Evening”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

We spent a very nice evening at Les Palmiers. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. They have done a lot of work creating a place where you can eat outdoors. I recommend this restaurant.

“Stay out of touristic attractions”
Reviewed September 28, 2010

This is a restaurant operating in an Interhome holiday complex "Les Palmiers". The complex itself is nice and peaceful garden with pool and sourrounding houses, most with nice view to the sea and mountains. The location next to coastal path is ideal for nice walks around the rocky coastline.

The friendly surroundings, however, do not extend to this particular restaurant. We visited the restaurant on Wednesday evening with a special Flamenco show. It was clearly stated to us in advance that due to the special show you need to order the special paella menu, or from the normal list and pay additional 5 euros per person due to the program. The drink list we saw stated e.g. beer for 10EUR, coffee 5EUR for first servings when not dining, thereafter normal fees - yet they adverticed the Flameno night as "Free Admission" - well literally speaking they are not lying here - the fees are just up a bit.

We were accepting the additional 5EUR per person additional fee and ordered what looked like standard catalan beach restaurant dishes. The place was full and there was too little staff to serve all the tables properly. The startes arrived at the same time with the main course - ending up main course being cold when you reached that. While the catalan food for me is simple and straightforward but rich in flavours and content, the options we had were only simple. During our accumulated 4 weeks in Catalonia, we never had food that lacked so much the richness in flavours - even two lunches at gas station cafés were superior to this one. On the other hand I can't complain that the food would have been spoiled or undercooked, which could have been even worse.

The (anti)highlight of our dinner was at the end. When we were finishing our desserts, the waiter just brought us our bill without us asking for it - which seemed like a gesture that you should free up this table. The bill included the 5 eur each for the program, but also all the desserts and coffees were priced up as well. I understand sometimes mistakes happen - so we tried to discuss the bill with the staff. Unfortunately they were too busy and/or pissed off to discuss in a civilized manner - but mostly yelled "you have to pay this..." There was no language barrier, as the most vocal waitress was fluent in english. In all other restaurants in the area, all mistakes have been solved in a friendly manner - even though in some occations we did not speak the same language.

Conclusion: As my collague from Spain said: "Have a happy vacation in Catalonia, but stay out of touristic attractions"

with all due respect to any criticism made by a customer, I think this is excessive and I will try to answer in english:

As mentioned by the client, Wednesdays in July and August we organized a dinner with a professional show, "flamenco show", to coordinate all, customers who wish to assist should reserve a table in advance, as admission is free.

This client came with his couple without reservation and were very happy to get a table. It is certainly true that he had to wait for the dishes, but it should not complain considering that no reserve a table, it did not want the special menu and was a special night.

I can't accept criticism about the poor quality of food. The garnish in most of our dishes like grill meat or fish are fresh vegetables, but for some people good food is a big portion with frozen potatoes; in any case I don't want to offend anyone with this comment, but the concept of good food is not the same for everyone.

The day of the show we offer a special menu to simplify and streamline the kitchen, and above all so that people do not have to wait too long the dishes, being a special night with so many people. in the case of this client would not eat the menu, so they had to pay supplement and this is where the discussion started.

My recommendation here would be: If you do not want to pay more, do not come to dinner the night of the show, come better tomorrow.
