“Very nice museum...”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

The museum has to be visited if you are in the area. The museum is well laid out and is very informative. There are lots of displays within the very picturesque chateau.
The dugout, tunnels and trenches are very detailed and give a good idea of the conditions the soldiers had to endure.
There is a small cafe on site. There is a decent choice of food and drink, but I did think the price was a bit high.

“Vey good”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

A well laid out and informative museum. Good to see the museum presenting a balanced picture, with exhibits and information from both sides in the conflict.

We found the underground bunkers and outdoor trenches particularly interesting, giving a sanitised impression of what life must have been like. It was fascinating to see the differences between the British and German trenches.

Lovely grounds and gardens to relax in afterwards.

“A must visit”
Reviewed June 25, 2014

Very well constructed museum with internal displays in the rebuilt chateau and dugout and tunnels recreated to give some inkling of the conditions. Mind the stairs, though!

“Nice Place To Visit”
Reviewed June 20, 2014

We went there as part of a morning tour and was lucky to have our guide take us through the museum & explain a few things. This was a big help.

This is a nice place which was rebuilt after the great was & is very informative. There is a nice outdoor bit with a row of trenches so you can get the feel for trench warfare.

The gardens outside with the big pond are also worth a look.

“A really interesting and well thought out museum”
Reviewed June 16, 2014

We came here after Tyne Cot cemetery having seen an advertisement for the museum; I'm so pleased we took the trouble.

The museum is much bigger than it looks from the outside, and it's set in a wonderful peaceful park.

The exhibits are spot-on, and the information is just right - not too heavy but enough to be absorbing. It was nice to see the focus on the multi-national aspects of those who fought.

The trenches and dugout experience was really good and is well presented.

Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, especially so if touring the WW1 and WW2 sites that are in the region.
