“Sumptious menu in a divine setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2013

Fourth visit to Millbrook but first time to review. Love that being a winery you can enjoy a wine tasting before your lunch and select a bottle for drinking. The staff are always friendly and the menu interesting. Great tasting plate that is different every time we have been and the menu utilises a lot of the produce they grow on the estate. Dietary items are marked which is a thumbs up for me. Mains are a little expensive but you pay for what you get and you will be sure to have an exceptional meal! The actual setting is lovely with a beautiful outlook of the dam, hills and vines. I have not hesitation in recommending Millbrook Winery.

“Lovely setting but....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2013

Millbrook Winery is in Jarrahdale which is about an hour's drive south of Perth.
The winery is well-kept and has a lovely setting with brick walls, a stream and a small lake. It is not a good choice for people with limited mobility. There is a car park for disabled visitors at the back of the building but parking at the main car park involves a walk of about 100 metres. Once inside the building there is no signage to direct customers to the restaurant and we were obliged to wait until the lady on duty at the wine tasting counter had finished pouring wines for a party of six before discovering that we had to go upstairs to eat.
Climbing around 30 stairs is not pleasant for those with limited mobility - there is an alternative pathway for wheelchairs but again it is quite a hike.
The restaurant is large with a soaring wooden ceiling and seating on the verandah as well as inside. Menu choice is limited but looked good.
My husband and I decided to share the chicken liver pate , onion jam and crostini ($19) to start. The pate is served potted in a jar with a layer of butter on top and it was delicious. I thought the onion jam overpowered the pate but my husband enjoyed the two flavours together.
For mains, my husband picked broad beans, Blackwood Valley brisket and white anchovies ($38)while I opted for the fish of the day ($38). We also ordered a side of truffle mash ($10).
Very average. The vegetables were fine ( grown on the estate) but the brisket was dry and the fish (Rankin cod) overcooked and tough. The mash was excellent.
Our total bill was $133 - we also had a glass of wine each and a bottle of still water.
All in all, we won't be going back to Millbrook. Service was good and the staff friendly. the setting was lovely but in the end, we all go to restaurants for the food and this was not good enough.

“The perfect combination”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

This rural based restaurant ticks all the boxes for an enjoyable dining experience. It is well located for a special occasion out of town elevated above pasture and bush land in Jarrahdale,a forty minute drive from the Perth metro area.
Attached to the Millbrook winery the restaurant offers interesting and well balanced meals of a high standard complemented by a comprehensive wine list.Service was friendly and efficient .

“Great food and atmosphere”

Bookings around a timeslot worked well as the meal was seamless.
Venue was a little noisy towards the end as the numbers picked up and it filled up with happy diners.
