This is worth coming out of your way for! The lagoon is gorgeous with lots of icebergs floating in it. Take the extra tep and rent a boat to see it even closer!

Referred me to a nice dog friendly hotel. Clean enough to be healthy, dirty and worn enough to accept two dogs
If there was just one spot I could recommend people visit in Iceland, it's the glacier lagoon. We were awed by the magnificent beauty of the glacier and the little icrbergs, it is truly wondrous! We walked the beach on foot and also took a boat tour, which fortunately allowed us a closer look at the glacier, and we could even see it calving. Highly recommended, allocate more time here than you think.
The famous Glacier Lagoon is a favorite spot among tourists, and we enjoyed the combination of cool views with the distant main glacier, calved floating icebergs, and seals foraging for fish among the floes :). There’s rides offered aboard an amphibious vehicle, plus guided kayaking as well. One of the highlights along the south Iceland coast... enjoy!
The lagoon is a nice place. You can walk to the diamond beach following the walkway under the bridge.
But the boat tour is not recommended considering the price. It does not add much value or view. You can see or take photos from the shore. That is enough.
One of the most beautiful places in Iceland and that's saying something. Lagoon filled with icebergs and a boat trip that takes you closer to the glacier. My kids (4 and 7) loved the amphibian boat trip, eating a piece of ice and watching the seals in the lagoon.
Book your tour well in advance as the tickets get sold very quickly. We couldn't get tickets for the amphibian boat online (looked up a month before we wanted to go!) but luckily there were cancellations and we got the tickets at the ticketing office. Also, it gets quite busy during afternoon - finding a parking space took some time.
There is are free toilets onsite which is rare in Iceland!
