Description: Welcome to Sicilian Restaurant, a true icon of Parramatta and one of the largest and most impressive restaurants in the area. There is seating capacity for 350 diners yet it can still capture the intimacy of a romantic dinner for two. Located right in the heart of Parramatta, the restaurant is open 7 days for lunch and dinner. The Sicilian continues to maintain its reputation for high standards in service, food, premium wine, cocktails and superior coffee. Since Opening the Sicilian has become increasingly popular for its authentic woodfire pizza's and large portion sizes . Its large, open style and warm atmosphere attracts lovers of the flavours and dishes that make up the Italian cuisine. The Sicilian Restaurant brings all the warmth and earthy provincial charm of Sicily and Italian Dining to Parramatta. Sicilian food, in essence is excruciatingly simple. The freshness of the ingredients is what's most important in Sicilian's cooking. High quality ingredients speak ten-times louder than fancy cooking. Due to Sicily's location, in the middle of the Mediterranean, Sicily was a magnet for seafaring people since the dawn of time and has been invaded and ruled by the Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Spaniards and others, all of whom have left their mark, both in the island soul and in the cuisine. As a result Sicilian's cuisine is one of the most interesting of all the Italian Regions, with each new invasion another layer was added to an increasingly rich cuisine. 10 years in Church Street - Sicilian is celebrating its unique identity... with our family.

Was taking to this restaurant by a local work colleague. It is large and airy and the menu is pretty extensive. The start of our dining experience was a bit rocky - our waitress must have been new as she was unsure of the dishes on the menu, she got our drinks wrong so we were all (6 of us) whether our meals were going to be correct or not. I think the other waiters must have picked up on this, and were quick to make sure that the rest of our evening went smoothly. The meals were great. I had the Arancini which I shared, luckily as was told it would come with 3 pieces and instead came with 5. Had the Lamb cutlets for main which were delicious and it was a very large serving as well. A colleague had the seafoode platter and it was massive, so consider sharing if you are not a big eater. Presentation of the meals was great. My dessert was a bit dissapointing, egg custard pudding which had not been heated through. All in all a bit hit and miss but still an enjoyable dining experience.

Tried the Sicilian at Parramatta for a reasonable late meal on a Thursday night. Restaurant was reasonably busy and there seemed to be a good staff to customer ratio. Seated quickly but after that the experience left a lot to be desired. Ordered a drink immediately and this came quickly, as did the request for my meal order - some time to read the menu would have been nice. Entree of a simple pizza came quickly and was OK. Second drink was ordered but only eventuated when the main meal was almost consumed and after a waitress was reminded, who in turn apparently reminded someone else, who in turn... And that was it! Was never asked if I wanted another drink, dessert or coffee. And waited, waited, waited, for a bill in spite of politely gesturing and catching a waitress' eye several times. Eventually went and chased a waitress down for the bill which I was given, but then told to go elsewhere to pay. Overall, the food was OK but the service was lousy.

Since the moment we were seated we knew it would be a disaster. We came on a busy saturday night which might explain the low level of service. We asked for table water straight away but we didn't recieve any water untill the mains arrived although we reminded 3 waiters.Give or take this was 30 minutes by then! When we were ready to order it took 10 minutes for a waiter to come over...only because we were signalling their attention- many waiters were just rushing by us with no recongnition. I can't imagine how long we would have been waiting if we didnt signal. The food wasn't impressive either. Very bland and below average to say the least, I could cook better pasta at home. We passed dessert of course. When we finished our mains we decided not for someone to clear our plates and give us our bill. Again, who knows how long we would have been sitting there. The only redeeming factor was one waitress, she was the only waiter who smiled, listened and was genuinely kind to us. Most of the other waiters were rude, weren't interested in giving high customer service and looked much too stressed. I can't understand why this place is always so busy and popular. I definitely won't be coming back.

The decor was 'cheesy Italian', we waited a long period of time for our meals. The pastas were awful, the pizzas were tasty, but small and not enough cheese. The food was very expensive for what was delivered. Will not return, there are too many good restaurants to choose from in this location.
