“Excellent family holiday!”
Reviewed August 12, 2011

We (2 adults 1 8 year old) stayed at the Club Pollentia last 2 weeks of July this year and had a excellent family holiday. We stayed in a village room which was ok for the 3 of us but I do think had our son been older or we had 2 kids we would have needed a suite. Having said that you really are not in your room that much . Nice terrace outside but we did not use it too much due to the pesky mosiquitoes which are a pain woe betide you if yo went out a night without your repellant on!
We stayed all inclusive and we were extremely surprised at how good it was food was extremely good and varied. What I really liked having experienced buffets before was that the dishes were all quickly replenished and looked after so they still looked nice even after kids have helped themselves! Meal times could be busy but we soon got wise as to the less busy times ie before 9 at breakfast and about 830 onwards in the evening. Great selection of wine and premium bottled water and drinks service at mealtime was extremely efficient. My only complaint re food was first week we were there the pool bar had a pretty extensive menu eg salads choice of fish dishes in addition to usual snack fare eg burgers pizza etc. However in our second week the menu was suddenly replaced with a single typed sheet of paper with extremely limited choices. Maybe they wanted people to use the buffet more? The packed ounces were ok but we tended to eat out if we were out exploring.
There is no real beach at the hotel but there are bus stops outside the hotel which will take you to puerto pollens beaches or alcudia- personally we preferred pollensa and we also hired a jeep for a week and used it to go to some great smaller beaches.
Kids entertainment was great if you were young -our 8 year old was happy running about with friends he'd made but possibly some structured entertainment for the older children could be thought about but that is a minor point.
Staff were some of the best we've come across and should be congratulated by management for their pleasant and efficient manner. Our only complaint was the issue of pool beds really reserving beds at 7 and then as we witnessed not appearing until after lunchtime I think is just bad manners but if you were out in the morning you had no chance of getting a bed in the afternoon which was extremely annoying.
Overall this is a great hotel with lots of sports facilities if you are active (like my son and husband) and a good spa if like me you are not. We had a great family holiday and would visit again!

Travelled with husband and children aged 11 and 7. All had a fantastic return visit. The all inclusive option is fantastic value for money. We would all definitely return again for well earned rest!

I think people should not make their judgement of this hotel on some of the negative comments. Yes it is expensive but it was worth it. We booked with Thomas Cook ( great reps thanks Hazel) got to airport and had probs locating the coach so got a cab for 80 euros which ended up a good move as the hotel was the seventh drop and took 2 hours our cab ride was about 40 mins.
We arrived and check in easy you get a photocard for all inclusive ( premium brands) and great foods. We were in Stella 206 facing a duck pond and is lovely and quiet ( village room) not massive but not in there for long. Balcony has table 3 chairs and a sun louncher . If i was really picky id say the cleaning could be improved as hairs behind the door in bathroom from previous guests remained for our 10 day visit.
Food great variety and too much - my fussy 10 year old tried and enjoyed veal and duck and paella and pork and entrecote ( kids meals are available) a brilliant buffet with great variety. Too much food !!! some people had massive plates they went mad!! We went at 7pm and got an outside table every night. Breakfast is fine great choice and lunch is either buffet / snack and pizza and unlimited branded ice creams
Entertainment funny - they try but to be honest it was background - kids disco not too annoying and the small kids seemed to be very quiet compared to many resorts.
Service of food and drinks brilliant staff brilliant and i loved the Tapas and wine 6 -8pm daily still included in all inclusive !!!
quiet smaller pool is the best the large pool was a def no go for us too big too noisy and i dont like rows of beds - but yes its true towels are laid out people were by the pool at 7am but we all had a coffee come 7.30 when the breakfast opened - witnessed some swiss kids whip towels away from some reserved beds ( which is not allowed) at 8am then saw another child pop his towlel down and sat there only for the reservee to return and launch into awful abuse calling the child an english liar all english are lairs i stepped in and pointed out that the boys from their friends who sat next to them were indeed the boys that had removed the towels and there was meant to be no reserving anyway one word - chill !!!!!!
if this hotel sorts out no reserving of beds then it would be ideal - beach not great next to main road but pool and view of mountains was good - was it worth the money ? yes would we return? yes so was it a good hol? yes so thank you and well done to the team at the hotel x

Room Tip: i emailed hotel direct and asked for a quiet room and i got it

I was apprehensive about our holiday having read some bad reviews about this hotel, however we have just returned from having a lovely time. We were in the Maris room and it was clean,no problems at all. The minibar was replenished free every day as we were all inclusive and we didn't have any complaints at all. The food was great ( we've all put on weight! ) and the grounds of the hotel were beautiful. If I had to find anything to complain about,we had to get up at 7am to get a sunbed by the smaller pool and the evening entertainment wasn't great but thats all.
Buses are every 15 mins outside the hotel into Puerto Pollenca and Alcudia, you can walk it but will take approx 40 mins and the road is very busy without a proper footpath so not good with small children. Don't be put off by any bad reviews you may have read,we had a great time and we are a couple in our 40's and we took two 15yr old girls with us who also had a great time.

Just seen a few other holiday makers experienced the same 'booking problem' as us..

As we checked in after travelling with 3 small children, ages 6, 4 and 23 months, we were told there was no booking for us even though we made this way back in October 2010. No apology, they weren't even very friendly.. 'computer says no' was the main theme of the conversation.

I then rang the booking agent I had used and they confirmed the Hotel had confirmed the booking back in October.. hmmm. Was it a technical problem? The hotel didn't know. Even now, I dont know the reason this happened but it clearly was with the hotels process not the booking agent.

Anyway the hotel informed us they were full that night so we would have to go to a different hotel for 2 nights (Hotel Esperanza) then we would be back in the room we had booked for the remaining 8 nights. Not great but at least we would get 8 nights there.

I did do a lot of complaining to the manager and the compensation they eventually paid was agreeable. Initially the offered 100 euros! That didn't even cover the price difference between the 2 hotels! The Esperanza wasn't a patch on the Pollentia plus everything was catered for German tourists.

Based on the 8 nights we were there we thought the hotel was good - there were some niggles which didn't detract too much from the holiday but we will think twice before going back. In summary the kids did have a great time. The pool was great, the kids club was great and so was the mini disco.

What did we think?

Good
====
+ Pool was large with shallow areas for kids, fenced section for toddlers
+ Table service was very efficient in the pool bar
+ Table service for drinks in the evening was great
+ Room (Jupiter 2) was very nice and large and good location
+ Ducks outside the room, kids loved feeding them bread
+ Kids mini disco, they loved it
+ Great selection of ice creams!
+ Drinks. Good brands (San Miguel beer on tap and in bottles)

Not so good
==========
- Sunbeds. Get up at 8am to reserve
- Food. Not a great selection at the buffet
- Mosquitos, bring extra strength repellent
- Occasional smell of sewage in the evenings
- Evening entertainment was mainly by staff, very few professional acts
- Sprinklers outside the room quite noisy at 3am

We have been to all inclusives in Lanzarote, Egypt and Barbados and what struck us about the Pollentia was how poor the food selection was. The food was good, but sometimes it was hard to find something for the kids to eat in either the buffet or the pool bar. Normally all inclusives have a self service snack place for when the kids get hungry. Here you had to sit down and order a meal which can be impractical if you have only 1 member of the family hungry.

On a positive note the table service for drinks at dinner and in the evening is nice and now I've sampled that I dont want to go anywhere without this!

Also they do pony rides on a friday at noon for 6 euros each. Do take the little ones (4+) as they loved it.

Would we go back?
Was our booking problem systematic or just a one off? I would need to be certain this problem wasn't going to happen again for us to go back. I'd advise anyone about to go to this hotel to give them a call and check they have your name down otherwise you may not get in.

Dear guest,

First of all, we want to thank you the fact of choosing our hotel for your holidays and thank you so much for your understanding and your appreciation.

We would be grateful if we could explain your situation from our point of view. When your family arrived at the hotel, we did not have your booking. The first action we took: contact your travel agency. They had to send the booking again by e-mail.

You are wright when you say that you booked in October 2010, because it’s written in your accomodation voucher. When something like this happens, it could be for two reasons: one, the travel agency could had had a mistake sending your reservation that we didn’t receive or the other one, we made a mistake introducing your reservation in our system.

To both situation, we accept our responsability and from our side, we found the best solution for you and your family and tried to reach an agreement about the compensation.

Regarding your comment about our all inclusive service, ours is different as you have all drinks on brand and you are always served by waiter.

New recommendations are welcome. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and we hope to have another chance to please you and your family on holiday.

Best regards,

A.Celeste Malenque Pons.

Just returned from a 10 day all inclusive trip having stayed there twice in the last 5 years.
Can't fault the location - low rise accommodation in blocks of 10, set in well kept grounds with lots of ponds full of koi carp, ducks and an abundance of interesting wildfowl... Pool was great, beit somewhat crowded - not enough sun umbrellas and you had to be up early to get a sun bed !! Food very good - lots of choice but extremely busy at times which made it a bit "canteen" style.... Loved the fact you could order lots of different wines at dinner - all included other than a few with a modest supplement... Staff worked tirelessly all day to serve..... can't fault them ..... great sport ameneties - 6 tennis courts ! Football pitch. A little remote but only a bus ride to Alcudia or Porto Pollentia. 2 Children 13 and 9 made loads of friends and entertained themselves the whole 10 days.....
Entertainment - good Kids club etc and poolside activities - nightime ?? Mini disco for the kids - but then not much else worthy of mention ....
Accommodation - stayed in a village room - ok but beds somewhat "basic" - This place could be great with a few tweeks here and there
we've previously done 14 days here but think 10 is enough given the above...... Not had to complain once, during our stay so I guess that says enough - if you like "chilling" then this place ticks a lot of boxes...... guess that's why we've back 3 times...

A great hotel for families of all ages, but cannot cope with the number of guests it currently has. We were one of several people booking in to discover we did not have the room we had booked. We were lucky we were given an alternative room - all be it a downgrade - but some families were taken to a different hotel in Alcudia for the night. Once we finally got the room we requested, the following afternoon, our holiday was very pleasant. The room was huge, 4 star, downstairs gives you the chance to sunbathe on the grass, and nowhere is really too far to walk. The restaurant by the smaller pool is quieter, and food much, much, much, better. The entertainment is super, plenty for the little ones, shows by the international young reps, which are fine, and classy jazz musicians by the smaller pool on selected nights.

Would I go back? Only if I could be guaranteed the room I had booked

Room Tip: Make sure you check before you go that they are going to guarantee your booking
