Everything was astonishingly good. Although not many of the staff speak English they are very accommodating and helpful if you have a query. The breakfasts are wholesome and varied with everything you could need and expect. Whilst not overly large the bedrooms are very clean and comfortable, toiletries are provided daily and the mini fridge and free safe are a real bonus. The half board option proved very good value for money. The food served by excellent staff, in particular Yana, was interesting and hot. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone here and 2 stars does not do it justice. San Jose is a great little resort with great tapas.

Room Tip: Rooms 305/306 on 2nd floor for the views ( beware - no lift)

We stayed at this hotel in 8 nights, me and my husband was so satisfied, service was så good.
Small room but clean, breakfast is perfect!
We was little bit disappointed when we didnt got room with terrace but afterward we was so happy to get a room with no terrace because the room we stayed was so quiet and I could sleep a long night long :-), otherwise I can wake up with a little bit noise.

Room Tip: we stayed at room 114

I spent a fabulous, relaxing week here in June. The staff are accommodating, warm and welcoming. There's lots of choice in the continental breakfast (it's served inside by default, but they don't mind if you want to sit outside). It's close to the beach and an array of restaurants and shops.

The rooms are modest but they are clean and tidy (cleaned every day by the hard-working maids!). Some mattresses do need replacing but that is the only negative I can come up with.

Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to return. I think it's fantastic value for money and all the staff work very hard to ensure you have a great stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a terrace as they have views of the mountains and the sea.

As all other reviews say San Jose is a fabulous little village in the Cabo de Gata. It's a complete gem, surrounded by a series of unspoilt beaches.
The hotel is clean, fresh and in good condition, rooms a reasonable size and breakfast includes a good selection to accommodate most tastes. Very friendly and lent us a knife, fork and napkins for our lunch picnic.
Really is 500m from the beach and restuarants. Very good price including breakfast

Hostal Santuario San José is our new home during our Easter holiday! This is the second year we've stayed at the hotel, and the experience was just as good as the last. San José is THE place to stay in Cabo de Gata. It's a nice little village in Cabo de Gata with access to trekking, water sports, etc., but it's also a lively little village. The hotel is in the center of town, only a minute walking from shops, restaurants, and bars...and only two minutes walking from the beach. We requested (as last year) a room on the second floor with a balcony. These rooms have a BIG balcony with a table and chairs, as well as views of the sea and the beautiful mountains of the park. Breakfast is amazing, and it's practically impossible to decide what eat! The staff makes any kind of coffee you want, so nothing's stale and been sitting in a kettle for hours. The staff is also super-kind and willing to help out with any questions regarding the park, San José, and Almería province. See you next year!!!

Room Tip: Request a room with a balcony on the second floor. They all have at least a partial view of the sea and the mountains of Cabo de Gata.
