We spent there 3 nights (intended to stay 1 night after we finished 1 week in rented apartment:-)) The quality surprised us. The rooms are not big but have everything one needs, even a mini refrigerator.
Room and all the rest are very tidy.
Breakfast was a great surprise - they offer everything - from fresh fruits, diary products, whole grain bread to more "Spanish" breakfast food as toast with fresh tomatos, eggs and several sweets.
The staff is incredibly polite and helpfull-.
The hotel is tastefully decorated and all together definitely deserves more than 2 stars or the name hostal (hostel).
It's in a quiet street but very central, no problems for parking,
Of course, one comes to Cabo for the nature and not for night life. And we definitely had a chance to enjoy playas, did sports and admired the exotic landscape.

Room Tip: outside rooms have bigger balconys, no noise from the street

We found this place listed in the Lonely Planet, but there was a wrong number in there. When we entered San Jose, the first thing we saw was the hotel, so that was a good sign.

The price is very good, including breakfast.
The room is small, but good and clean. You will be all day on the beaches anyway so you don't even need more than this!
Breakfast was fantastic. I would say it is a 3star+ breakfast at least. The fresh espresso you can order is just what you need in the morning:)
Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The restaurant that is part of the hotel is probably the best in town. The food is very very good (and expensive), but you can can a good daily deal for 15e!

The Cabo nature reserve is raw and magical, the beaches are fantastic. No beach bars on there...but raw beaches. Ask the staff for the good hidden ones;)

We booked in for 2 nights and stayed 6. San Jose is a real find and we were very happy that we discovered it, as we were disappointed with nearby towns until we stumbled across San Jose, Almeria.

The hotel is modern, the rooms clean and comfortable if a little on the tight side. Ensure you get a room with a balcony as some only have a window or a small ledge. The best rooms have proper balconies where you can enjoy sitting and reading or enjoying a drink and so on. The bed was a little hard, but not too bad. There was a bath which was nice. Staff not too good with English so take your phrase book.

The hotel is near the centre of San Jose which is a laid back hippie style seaside resort, with loads of bars and restaurants but no night clubs. No skyscrapers either which is good news. Lots of great walking nearby.

Beaches fantastic in the area - even the town beach is pretty good. As you get away from the town then on the beach clothes are optional and naturism popular! You can walk to the town beach in 5 minutes. There are great beaches a short drive away or a half an hour walk or so. This part of Spain enjoys the very best weather in Spain, generally.

There is on street parking which this time of year was very good but we heard in peak season can be a bit difficult.

A great hotel with lovely staff in a superb little town right in the heart of a protected national park - a place all in all well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Take your walkinng boots and plenty of sun cream!

I have already been there in 2006 and returned now in September. The hotel is nice, the staff is polite and very obliging. The breakfast is good and the rooms are clean and very cosy. I cannot complain about the roomservice or anything else. I felt at home and I am very sure, that I will return for my next holidays.

We've booked four nights in the Hostal Santuario and we finished staying 9 nights in the end of June.

The hostal, owned by the Aniceto family has two stars but deserves five stars not only because of the service, accomodations and restaurant, but also because of the warm welcome provided by all the people working here (we could dine at 23h00, and ask for a tea or a gin tonic whenever we wanted).

Our room with a balcony and sea view was spacious, with a simple decoration and very, very clean.

For 70 euros a night we had a fantastic breakfast (with buffet, included in the price), that was the best way to start the day before going to the funtastic beachs all around San Jose in the Cabo da Gata natural park (we suggest the beaches of Monsul, and Media Luna and the "calla carbon", 10 minutes by car from the hotel, there's also a bus serving this beaches inside the natural park).

The free parking and internet acess is also included in the price of the hotel.

Our last word goes to the hotel's restaurant - Aniceto. Ana, the "chef" deserves a quote in the "Michelin guide" for her cuisine, mixing traditional andalousia's dishes like seafood paella, with some "fusion-food" dishes like the codfish with red pepper's sauce and garlic "mousseline", or some delicious desserts like the "leche frita" with cinammon ice-cream.

It was the best spot to discover and to taste all the flavours of this cabo da gata region, an oasis in the south of Spain.

My wife her sister and me were traveling through spain by car without having booked any hotel. So one evening we came at San Jose searching a stay for a few days. It was a casuality that we asked for rooms at first at the Hostal Santuario but as we saw the rooms and the wonderful sight from them we were very postive surprised. The price was right and the manegement people very lovely and very kind. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast rich enougth to satisfy us completely. Right out of the doorstep there was a real patio andaluz with palms and other exotic plants where we spent many hours talking and enjoying the sunny weather. The only negative point is the lack of a lift but since we didn't have all too much luggage we could live with this.
