Having just purchased our third annual ticket in a row we were appalled to see the write up in the local paper. My three grandchildren love this place. The indoor play barn is just fabulous for the under tens.Yes at the moment some areas are being redeveloped and being winter there are some animals in muddy fields but when all is said and done it is a farm. Where else can you go where there are such a good range of ativities for such a reasonable price, and in winter time as well. So many places shut down from November to March. We go as often as we can find the time. The reptile house has some amazing creatures and the owls are obviosly happy or they wouldn't breed so well. In the holidays there are always extra activities laid on - feeding lambs etc. There must be some really sad people about if they can go here and not enjoy themselves.

I have 8 children and have been to the Dick Whittington farm park many times over the years. The children always have a wonderful time and often nag to go.
There is something for all ages. They all enjoy the wide variety of animals which are well cared for and have lots of space. The younger ones enjoy the play area with pool pits ,trampolines and slides which have been improved and added to over the years and the older ones love the go carts.
It could be seen as expensive if only staying a short time but there is so much to do it compares well with other attractions.
I cannot understand why there are so many negative reviews.Do some people expect the countryside to be clean? Its a great place, lots to do, good value food ,contantly being improved and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

We used to go here quite regularly, hadn't been for a while and went for a party, the toilets are disgusting and need a darn good clean, the indoor play area is run down and cold, the cafe is a health hazard and i wouldnt risk eating a crumb let alone a meal and the staff all seem bored (surely rather than chatting they could scrub the floors or something)

The animals look bored, the goats continually get there heads caught in the fencing and it takes the staff forever and a day to get to them to free them, the area is dirty, the tractor is just a boring drive round, the go carts are all falling apart and there web site sucks.

You want to know the best part about this farm park? The Exit, put your foot down and drive away, its not worth the money at all.

The management of Dick Whittington Farm Park wish to express their disappointment with a very small handful of comments that have been made as a result of alleged visits to our Farm Park. We note that are some twelve negative comments spread over a long span which, compared with 120,000 visitors during the same period, rather puts things into perspective. However, we would like to make the following remarks.

1. The Farm Park is a small family-run farm diversification. Whilst we are honoured to be compared with some multi-million pound corporate complexes, we are, at the end of the day, just simply a small family-run visitor attraction.

2. The Farm Park was evolved to give exercise, fun and indirect rural education to the children of Gloucestershire and surrounding areas, particularly targeting toddlers to ten year olds. It has been designed so that parents can participate with the children and embrace the fun and experience they have. There is no other location in the region where children can play and see owls and wallabies and feed deer, lambs and alpacas.

3. We have never had a child complain in the ten years that we have been open and it is very regular at the end of the day for children to be taken out saying 'I do not want to go home, I'm having fun'.

4. Our farm Play Barn is one of the biggest in Gloucestershire and is extremely popular. As a result, we have plans to significantly extend it.

5. The outbuildings and toilets are old and we have been awaiting planning approval to commence work on their demolition and construction of a new complex for our visitors. There are plans and notices on site so all visitors should be aware of the project.

6. All areas are cleaned daily. Refuse is properly removed from site. We do extensive recycling for which we are Award winners.

7. Certain outdoor activity areas are also awaiting planning approval to be extended including the karting course and outdoor activity zones. We are hoping to get final approval this Spring so that works can get underway during the Summer. Planning is an extremely long-winded process and has caused us many frustrations and is probably the reason why some visitors misinterpreted the condition of parts of the complex as those areas are awaiting a major redevelopment works schedule.

8. Since the outset, we have suffered from over-the-top objections from one or two neighbours who seem to resent our efforts to evolve the Farm Park for family enjoyment. During this period, we have experienced many cases of ridiculous allegations being made to try to thwart our efforts varying from complaints that ducks had muddy feet so should not be on the water, and children should not be allowed to laugh or sing at birthday parties. We have even had accusations that hay bales are in fact piles of stone being strategically placed around the fields. We therefore suspect that a number of the comments that have appeared on your site are in fact distortions made by nimbys seeking purely to cause more trouble.

9. When we have had the chance to discuss a complaint with an individual, it normally proves without foundation.

10. Despite the fact that we are only a small family-run operation, our Farm Park has in recent times achieved some very significant awards. It was a National Farm Parks finalist, has won the Forest of Dean Tourism Attraction Award and, as recent as 2011, was runner-up in the Visitor Attraction Awards for the area. We have won innumerable conservation awards and have had visits from as far afield as Scotland to see our achievements in the breeding of endangered species within our zoo complex and Germany for our reptile house. The Irish rave about our Play Barn.

11. We are now close to achieving a million visitors within the ten years that we have opened. We have a very high percentage of repeat visits and a growing membership including fan clubs in Holland and Germany.

12. We are therefore disappointed that just a few negative comments from what we believe to be suspicious sources should influence the opportunity of children having fun and education in the countryside, particularly when a number of those responses either are untraceable or fictitious.
