I had my 40th Birthday meal at this pub with all my family recently. The food is lovely with plenty of choice for everyone, can't fault it. 11 meals had and not 1 thing wrong. Waitress and Bar Service is excellent. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and the Pie's are a must.

Just spent a night at FBI as they call it. Yes,the room was on the small side and the bed on the large side but I'd rather it that way round than the other!!! Still plenty of room to move around the bed, small built in wardrobe and T n C in another. The en-suite was roomy enough, certainly the shower cubicle. The bathroom was clean with almost instant hot water. Although some would complain that the plumbing was noisey in room 5.The bed was on the firm side but we both slept well, could have been the wine that helped! These rooms aren't the most luxurious in comfort or decor but they served a purpose in a very convienient and beautiful part of the country as a getaway with a wowcher coupon including a fab breakfast. What really made our stay here so nice was the food in the pub.We had a light lunch when we arrived and checked in at 1 pm and dinner in the evening, now this place specialises in pies as they have a pie factory,so there are loads to choose from, but I went for the other "bloke" favourite, sausage and mash peas and caramelised onion gravy.I tend to think that £11.95 is a lot for bangers n mash but on this occasion it was worth every penny. The locally made pork and apple sausages were really nice, they do a GF one as well. My wife had a steak and it reminded us of the old steak days with a real juicy fat around it,superb pot of chips and a tasty salad. I can't fault this dinner or the wine,it really was fabulous.
I can't go with out a special mention to the staff that we met on the day,Lauren and Her sister Beth.
Lauren had been on dutie since seven a.m, checking customers in ( all 8 rooms were booked) answering the phone, serving at the bar and serving food etc.retaining a sense of humour and chattiness with the customers throughout. Well done girls. Mr Owner, the girls done good,as did the chef I must add.
Oh I nearly forgot,Lauren was on breakfast dutie the following morning, serving us with a fab selection of fresh local produce again.I must say that the coffee, although in a thermos self serve type container, was the best Ive had from a container like that.
So,we had a good discount with a Wowcher deal on an OK room and lovely breakfast but we did spend a further near £90 on some glorious extras.
Good luck to all.

My husband and I stayed here for one night on a KGB deal, £39 for b & b. The rooms are in an annex at the rear of the pub. They are on ground floor and have everything you could need and very clean. bright and inviting. The bed is huge and very comfortable. Nice modern decor, spacious bathroom and great power shower. Room comes with tea and coffee making facilities, towels, flat screen t.v. and hair dryer. The pub itself is lovely, old fashioned and quaint and all the staff we met were lovely. Phil the manager was there and we had a laugh with him at breakfast over 'the envelope'. He was also happy to give us some advice where to visit locally. We are treating my parents to a couple of nights at The Farmers Boy Inn in July, and have recommended the wonderful pies, however there is an extensive home cooked menu and the food is delicious, good value and portion size. Breakfast is gorgeous too. Lovely local produce.

We stayed for 2 nights using a Wowcher which in our opinion makes it nearer the cost it should be for staying, but we found it clean and comfortable the room is on the small side though the breakfast was very good. We dined in the pub both nights and the food is excellent with lots of choice. There is plenty of easy parking.

Stayed here on the 10th May 2013 . Rooms far to small for the size of bed. Smallest T.V you can imagine and even the staff coudnt work it.. The room only had one bedside light working and even when pointed out to staff nothing was done about it. Cleaner should try cleaning at the back of bathroom door and under the bed and back of cupboards ,never see so much dust,. toilet was loose and needed attention. POWER SHOWER is a joke you could get wetter standing out side in a sun shower Dont expect a good nights sleep as i was kept awake with someone snoring in the next bedroom after being woken after 1.a.m with staff tipping bottles into the bins outside...Food not bad but for what it is, overpriced. When we left not once where we asked if everything had been O.K. Also got fed up of having review forms pushed at you. NEVER once saw the owners it seems as this place is totally run by staff..and not that well at that. For what it is supposed to be ( as you get constantly reminded) for the price would NOT stay here again.

Hi and thank you for your review. We are all busy people with busy lives, busy rushing around, disappointed "disaponted" with somethings in life, disappointed with the colour of the sky, disappointed with the wrong shade car, disappointed with the food with eat, disappointed with life in general. Than there are people who embrace life, new adventures, new ideas, work and play together and try to enjoy everything that comes their way. Lets all raise our glass. Thank you

Stayed for two nights through wowcher over Mat bank holiday. Directions good, welcome very hospitable, room clean with large bed, good shower. Great base to get to some great walks and attractions. Had evening meal - food & service excellent in lovely cosy surroundings, had to experience the famous pies! Although being vegetarian I was disappointed that there was only one option even though it was very tasty.
