I was not expecting that much from a last minute cheap deal but was overall happy with my experience.
Room was fine, food was very good and breakfast over looking the river lovely.
Spa however needs a complete makeover however I'm told this is due to start in march

Beautiful hotel, great welcome, lovely dinner included in price, very competitive rates, we stayed 2nights dinner, b&b for £139 for the 2of us. Swimming pool & jacuzzi are free for guests, room was clean&comfortable. Service was good all round.
Breakfast on Sunday was self-service so not as good as Saturday's but there was plenty of choice, only one small problem finding the hotel without satnav could prove a bit of a challenge as there are no signs from the main road or indeed the village.. But it's definitely worth the trip. Lovely garden with pond and ducks.. And an owl visited during the night:we heard it!

Room Tip: Some beautiful rooms on the front with balcony overlooking the gardens

Dear Guest,

Thank you for kind comments towards Bowden Hall and your time to submit them to Trip Advisor. I am glad you enjoyed our facilities and service and made use of our relaxing leisure centre. We are very proud of our countryside setting so it is great to hear you appreciated the surrounding wildlife.

We are currently reviewing our signage from the A46 as rather misleading going down Nuthill

I hope to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

Kind Regards,

Tucked away in the countryside, but easy to find with satnav. Very attractive and historic former country house in lovely setting. Comfortable rooms, friendly and efficient staff, good food (and nice to have poached smoked haddock cooked to order for breakfast).

The Bowden Hall is a lovely country hotel within easy reach of Gloucester. It is set in pretty surroundings and has an old country house feel to it. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
This is an ideal hotel for a function or wedding.
The room service is not 24hr (ending at 9:30 PM) and the gym closes at 8PM - not ideal if staying after a long days work. The TV choice is somewhat limited with the irritating menu systems common to other Mecure hotels.
The food is excellent and the breakfast especially tasty. The rooms are very spacious and they do not have that sterile corporate feel you get at some of those in a chain.
The bottled water, tea coffee and biscuits were most welcome after my long journey to the hotel.
This hotel could be excellent if the little niggles are sorted out. Overall a pleasant stay in a very good hotel.

We chose this hotel hoping for something a bit out of the ordinary, and so it was. It has a lot of period charm and the communal rooms, especially the lounges, are elegant and comfortable. Our room, on the 4th floor (with view as requested) was spacious and comfortable and the food very good. We had the bed and breakfast option but also chose to eat in on 2 of our 3 nights,
All the reviews speak highly of the friendly and helpful staff and we heartily agree. Many of them seem to have been there some time, always a good sign. The manager clearly "leads from the front" in looking after customers - for example serving at breakfast on the Saturday we were there.
We pointed out that the final sign to the hotel was pointing in an ambiguous direction (perhaps the wind?). It was fixed the same day. That's service.
There are no lifts beyond the first floor so make sure not to get an upper room if you have trouble with stairs. Personally, I was glad of the exercise after enjoying the breakfast too much!
All in all, a very happy experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a lower floor if you have trouble with stairs

Me and my son stayed here whilst visiting family. The staff were very helpful and competent. For instance, we forgot toothpaste and asked the receptionist - toothpaste was delivered without a fuss. And we lost our room key card - this was replaced without a fuss.
The grounds are nice, the room was excellent. Very pleased and will return.

Spent a fabulous weekend at the Hotel, my only regret being that we were not snowed in! From the moment we checked in we felt at home. All staff were very attentive and friendly and are a big asset to the hotel.
Our room was spotlessly clean, well done housekeeping and had a lovely view of the small lake in the grounds
Great selection of food at breakfast all freshly cooked and we also enjoyed our meals at the restaurant
Will definately return for a weekend break this summer.
