My girlfriend and I stayed in an Superior Jacuzzi room and it was well worth the upgrade. Our bed was huge and really comfortable. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the food in the Tara restaurant was fantastic. The breakfast options are vast and the quality is excellent. We had a fantastic couple of days and it was worth every penny. Dont hesitate, book this hotel, you wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: Upgrade to Jacuzzi room Half board was good value for money

We were a party of four men over from Ireland for a four night stay to attend the "Cheltenham Open". From our arrival on Thursday 15th to our departure on Monday 19th, our experience could not have been better. Simon, the General Manager and all the staff went to extremes in providing a service that was all-out 5 Star, even down to providing a shuttle-bus each day to the races with a warm welcome awaiting our return each evening. I had read some complaints about service being slow in the dining room but, at the end of the day, you're in the Cotswolds where time itself moves to a slower beat, thank God . We only experienced a slight delay in receiving breakfast on Saturday morning but when it did arrive it was obvious that everything on the plate was freshly cooked so it was well worth the wait. The location is tranquility itself and with panoramic rustic views all round this is the perfect place to unwind for a few days. In the bar each night, the warm friendly and relaxed atmosphere created by the staff and the other hotel guests made this a break to remember and much more than just another racing week-end.

We have just returned from a wonderful weekend break at Hatton Court. From when we arrived on Friday afternoon until we left on Sunday morning the staff made us feel as if nothing was too much trouble. Our rooms were spotless and modern with the added benefit of complimentary bottled water and fresh milk in the mini bar (so much better with the filtered coffee that they also provide) and of course the glorious views.. The food was delicious and of a high standard and an evening in the bar with Craigs humour should not be missed - thanks Craig. If you have read any of the negative reports on this hotel I can only assume that they are those small number of people who will never be satisfied anywhere!! Would We recommend - Yes - Would we go back - Definitely.

We stayed as a party of four in 2 Refurbished Executive rooms in the annexe building. Our deal included 3 course dinner, breakfast and a bottle of champagne and strawberries in the room.
Check in was efficient and pleasant enough and we were directed to the annexe just outside reception and up some pretty steep steps and then up two further flights of stairs to the second floor. This wasn't a problem to us but for anyone remotely infirm with luggage it would be difficult as there are no lifts.

Our rooms were not the largest we have experienced but decent enough and they certainly had character with sloping ceilings and dar wooden beams. The view from the window across the countryside was excellent. As described the champagne was on ice in the room together with a plate of fresh strawberries which were delicious. Not sure that the champagne was Vintage as suggested in the offer but it was nice enough.

Drinks in the bar pre-dinner were good and not extortionate and the dining room was superb - particularly at our requested window table. The menu choice was good and if we had wanted greater choice, we could have paid extra for the a la carte options however, other than one dessert, we stayed with the fixed price deal. All of us commented that the food was good quality and good value and the service efficient and unobtrusive. Clearly there is a pretty good team spirit amongst the restaurant crew and they try very hard to make it a pleasant experience.

Breakfast next morning was again very good although we had to return two of them as poached egges were ordered and fried eggs delivered - the replacement eggs were overcooked but overall, it diidn't spoil the experience.

We would all recommend the hotel, the deal and the location.

Went here for meeting yesterday - got treated like royalty.

The rooms are huge, modern and cosy. The bathrooms are huge, with a jacuzzi bath! Everything is pristene and the views are wonderful.

The food again is so good and is excellent value. The risotto was huge and was very very tasty. I hope to come back!

Superb hotel. Room was great, not your most up-to-date room, but it fits with the character of the hotel and it's surroundings. Staff were very polite and helpful. We dined two evenings and both meals were superb. Couldn't fault either of them. Excellent service all round. Reasonable bar prices for a hotel. Superb views of the Malvern hills. This weekend was to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we can't wait to return again.

My partner and I stayed here for only one night but it was fantastic, staff were polite and friendly. The view was lovely and peaceful and rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast in the morning was fresh, hot and scrumptious!!

I would definitely come and stay here again, the only thing that was a minus was that the walls were thin so you can hear people come and go. Although that didn't bother us much as there weren't late stompers when we went to bed.

Advise: Get to breakfast earlyish so you can have the pick of all the fresh food and you won't have to wait for your hot breakfast.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
‘Contemporary country house with the Cotswolds warmest welcome’ Set high on an escarpment overlooking the Severn Vale this 45 bedroom country house hotel lies between the Cathedral City of Gloucester and Regency Cheltenham. Hatton Court provides the right balance between traditional hotel service and all the benefits you would expect from a contemporary hotel. The Tara Restaurant is renowned locally. It is an ideal place from which to explore the Cotswolds. Hatton Court is a reassuring size; not large and impersonal, nor too small. As a former splendid Cotswold home the feeling is of being eminently comfortable as opposed to grand. Nothing is hurried. The reception is very much a lounge, with leather sofas, magazines and an open fireplace for those chillier days. Next door the bar is more a place to relax, take tea, read and talk than to rush. The care taken to prepare the food, combined with a smiling service, is complemented by the thought that has gone into creating the Tara Restaurant. Fully refurbished in late 2009 the natural colours and soft lighting make a relaxing environment for friends and relations to enjoy each other’s company. Private dining facilities are available in the equally well appointed Cotswold Room. The peace of the surrounding countryside and comfortable bedrooms, some with whirlpool baths, make for a good night’s sleep ready for another day exploring the Cotswolds. ... more   less
