Me and my partner booked this hotel for 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast. After looking online, I was really looking forward to the stay as the hotel seemed luxurious and relaxing. When we arrived in the car at the hotel the outside was the first let down. To be honest it looked like a council block. However, I thought I wouldn't judge it just by this and we continued in.

The woman at reception was so dull and clearly didn't care for the job or the customers. The good side was that check in was quick, but there was no welcome.

We went to our room which was clean and everything, but it was drab and characterless. The room service menu was ridiculously expensive and the 'King' size bed was actually 2 single mattresses pushed together.

As we were thirsty we went to the bar to get a drink. We looked at the bar and drinks menu at the same time, which was horrifically overpriced. An egg mayo sandwich was £7.00, which I think is laughable. I got to the point where I was scared to drink at the hotel as it was so expensive so I was constantly thirsty. A pint of Grolsh was £3.60. I ordered a Cosmopolitan cocktail, the girl behind the bar said she would bring it over, and it arrived about 15 minutes later, was pale pink, 3 quarters of which was tiny pieces of ice and it tasted like water. It was awful. Also, the bar area was so busy with people walking in and out it was like an airport terminal which put me off a lot as well. There was no atmosphere or intimacy and it was just like one of those places that really annoys you just being there.

We were going back to the room after the drink, but the card we were issued with decided it wasn't going to open the door anymore, so we went back to reception and began explaining the situation to the receptionist, who clearly didn't give a monkeys, as she just stared at her nails and said "oh". It was ridiculous. Apparently, the other lady who issued the cards to us had given us the old cards and they were only active until 1.30pm so she redid them for us.

The 2 hour free internet time was a shambles, as it doesn’t connect even after asking the receptionist for access codes and help. So we couldn’t use that. It was starting to feel like no one there really knows what they’re doing.

Dinner was enjoyable and the food was really good. We had three courses and were very satisfied with them. The male waiter we had was friendly and pleasant. I had a caesar salad which had a tasty dressing on, spinach and ricotta tortollini which was also very nice and a light and lovely strawberry Eton Mess.

Breakfast was good and very tasty. There weren't many cooked options for vegetarians unless you specifically asked for them, but I like eggs and there were lots of them!

The spa and gym were ok. I had a massage which I must say was very good. The masseuse was really good and I very much enjoyed it. My partner used the gym at the same time and said it was alright. We also used to pool which was ok also. The pool wasn't massive but it was enough room to have a bit of a swim in. Unfortunately the jacuzzi wasn't working when we were there as it had overheated earlier that day and wasn't going to be fixed for 4 days. The steam room was ok, small but it did the job. I must say I did enjoy the spa side of the hotel.

The check out was quick but the bill was incorrect, and I was going to be charged twice for my massage. I pointed this out and the girl did take it off, but she didn't bother to enquire about it with me or the leisure centre to make sure it I didn't make a mistake, I think she just wanted to get rid of us. After spending over £400 for 2 nights DBB and expensive drinks I just wanted to get out of there.

This hotel just cuts corners and doesn't really care. It is not personable or polite and you just feel like one of hundreds of other guests. I would NOT recommend.

My husband and I booked a one night stay here through spabreaks.com which included room, dinner, breakfast, lunch, 2x 30min treatments each and use of facilities (pool, sauna etc). It didn't look like a particularly elegant country hotel from the photos and because we paid under £200, we expected restricted menus, a basic room etc but instead we were pleasantly surprised. The food is great quality, breakfast in particular was fantastic and had everything we could want, the treatments were excellent and the staff provided top service. The drinks and bar snacks are expensive but we didn't spend much time sitting around in the bar so it was ok. I would recommend booking a dinner table in advance to guarantee the time you want. Our room was modern and clean with no problems and a later check out was arranged for us on request with no issues. There was even a wedding reception on at the hotel and this was hardly noticeable through either noise or number of guests. We made use of the pool and my husband used the steam room, sauna and spa pool (I couldn't use these due to being heavily pregnant) and the changing facilities were also great. I can't comment much on the location of the hotel as we explored Cotswold villages before arriving, but we found it ok and there is plenty of parking spaces. It was the first time we have experienced a Q Hotel and I would definitely stay here again as well as recommend it to others.

Great hotel. Very nice modern rooms, great spa and pool etc.

Staff were very friendly.

Restaurant menu is a bit "Bernie Inn" but the quality was very acceptable. Prices on the high side for what is pretty basic food though. To be honest, they can obviously cook, it's just a shame the menu is stuck in the 80's.

My girlfriend and I managed to get a good deal directly through the hotel, and can definately say that we did well for the price we paid. The rooms were spacious, well equipped and well kept. Complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and toiletries were always refreshed if you had used them.

Service in reception was good, breakfast service was excellent and there was an extensive choice of good quality food. Cannot comment on evening meals as we did not eat at the hotel, but looking at the menu looked quite expensive,so taking advantage of their "DBB offer" would be worthwhile. Leisure facilities were also very good. Decent sized pool, with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. There is also spa facilities and a gym available but we did not use these.

All in all, a good base to explore Cheltenham, Gloucester and the Cotwolds and would definately go back again.

Following Trip Advisor reviews we booked a two night break direct with Q hotels for a fantastic price and we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was large, comfortable and clean. It was also very quiet given that a large wedding party were exuberantly enjoying themselves downstairs; we never heard a thing. Breakfast is buffet style, as with most hotels, but there was everything one would need and of reasonable quality. It was very pleasant to sit by the window in the restaurant looking out over the fields and hills and watching rabbits on the lawn.
All staff we had contact with were helpful and efficient. Forgot our swimming gear so we were unable to use the pool facilities etc.
Only slight drawback is the location, very easy to get to but some 6 miles out of Cheltenham, you have to drive to get anywhere.
