We have been staying at One Mile Beach for 4 years and still love the location - walk to the beach, great (but crowded) pool, short drive to Anna Bay Shops and Salamander shopping centre. Unfortunately, each year the prices are hiked up. Last year a new policy was introduced whereby a deposit on your cabin will no longer suffice. Now you have to pay for your entire stay for the December/January holidays by 1 November ostensibly to make the check-in process smoother. From our experience this was just money in the hands of One Mile Beach owners to put on short term deposit - our check-in was just the same as it had always been apart from the reception lady who was very unwelcoming to the point of bordering on rude. Ourselves & other friends staying at the park unfortunately encountered this unfriendly staff member on several occasions. There have been some improvements to the cabins & cabin furniture over the years but things such as the security door have not been fixed in 3 years. The addition of a personal BBQ on the veranda was a great feature. Unfortunately the price is no longer competitive & this year we a moving to a lovely apartment at a beach resort further north for just over half the price of our One Mile Beach cabin.

Room Tip: Try to get a cabin with the veranda facing the beach so that it's shaded in the afternoon when y...

Great beach and pool! Kids loved playground and putt putt! Admin staff great and very helpful! However that's as great as it gets :-( We had 3 little kids and used the family bathroom daily after 4 days it had not been cleaned at all!, it was filthy!! We addressed it with the staff and they had it cleaned and were clearly not impressed with their staff but unfortunately it wasn't enough! The nappy disposal bin was not cleaned out for the 8 days we were there and when they empty the communal rubbish bins they do not replace the liners so the stench and flies are just disgusting!!! Just requires a good daily clean of all amenities and the cleaning staff clearly need a good refresher in their job description

The location next to the beach is great, but this place could be so much more. We stayed in a beachfront apartment and for the money we spent we should have considered FIJI.
If you need to keep in touch with work, ie emails, you'll have a challenge. Limitted 3G coverage and a WIFI offering thats not worth trying to use.
Simple things, like a hose connected to the external tap so we can hose down after the beach rather than walk sand through the apartment. The cafe that is "part" of the camping ground could be so much more appealing if they cut the grass, removed the wrecked car, provided some comfortable furniture and shade. We went there once, the food was ok but the environment stops you going back.
I was lucky i was in a cabin, the campsites were so close to each other.

Great place for kids and convenient for the beach and pool. The kids loved riding their bikes, watching communal movies and putt putt. Adults loved the laid back feel. The e teens tell me - we are going back next year. Overall, a good time was had by all.

I have not been on the annual camping trek as part of my holidays but after visiting this place I understand what the attraction is. I have visited and stayed with friends for the past couple of years here. We like most of the place had a site and camped. Depending on the amount of effort you want to go to depends on what sort of time you will have. What you will notice is the sense of community, many people we met have been visiting here for many years mainly from Newcastle and the Hunter but we met people from Sydney as well. I think this was the biggest positive about our time there. The New Year Eve fireworks on the beach went on for a few hours leading up to midnight. What I also like about this place is the proximity to beach and pool. It is a short stroll to both. The pool is great for those with littlies. It is kinda small but fun all the same. The beach though is what it is all about and from our site to the beach was only a couple of minutes stroll and it is fantastic for everyone, along with its neighbour Boat Harbour arguably are the best beaches around the area, especially for families. The cost for staying at the park can be expensive depending on what option you choose, but that is the same for most beachside places at this time of the year. If you are in to fishing and boating you can launch from Boat Harbour which is a short drive and the fishing has always proved excellent. The amenities were always clean and there is a great shop and restaurant next to the park. My advice if you are a light sleeper, ear plugs always do the trick.

Room Tip: Camping is the cheaper option. The onsite cabins can be very expensive.

We camped here for $40 for the night because Stockton Beach was closed for campers until December due to storm damage. This was my first camping trip, so if you're an avid camper then my comments probably aren't that valid.

VALUE: 2/5
I thought $40 per night for providing a square of ground was overpriced. I work in hotels and now I'm not sure why I do when you can make $40 a night of ground. Maybe this is normal for camp sites though.

LOCATION: 4/5
Extremely close, actually it is at the back of a beautiful beach. Can't fault the location, we walked over to the beach in the morning and had a swim. This beach gets busy with locals though, so it wasn't like a stunning deserted beach or anything like that.

SERVICE: 2/5
When we checked in we received a note with our 'plot' number on it and the security code for the car gate. However, the A5 piece of paper had all of this horrible red capslock writing all over it warning us about how check-out is at 10 AM SHARP!!!!! I love it how in Australia we think the best way to get a message across to the guest is to yell it at them in capslock. In America they just have pleasant conversations with you instead which I think is much nicer. The young blond girl was very helpful, obviously a local with a lot of knowledge of the area and where all the nice beaches are. The older lady we encountered in the morning was behaving like it was a corporate hotel in the middle of Sydney, very short and not very approachable, very very very formal. Relax lady this is a caravan park not Sheraton on the park.

THE GATE CODE:
Don't mess with the gate code. We drove two cars through on one code which is a big no no. The lady came rushing out to our 'plot' to tell us off and not to do it again. Although, I would definitely do it again if I had the chance because watching them freak out was pretty fun.

Room Tip: The cabins closest to the beach looked nice, and it's only about 50 metres to the water.

We stayed in a beach apartment. On arrival we found: an old rag in the sink; bread crumbs on the bench top; filthy outdoor setting; filthy bbq; filthy bedroom carpet; broken light switch and light; TV not working; neighbor's hot water system broken; other neighbor's oven didn't work the whole 7 day stay. Other annoyances: broken glass coffee plunger; missing kitchen utensils. The list of issues provided to front desk on departure. Their response was "how do we know about these things if people don't tell us". Here's an idea - how about you check the cabins for yourself before letting them out FFS!!!

This park has real potential - it is well located in walking distance to a great beach. A real shame that it is poorly managed.

Room Tip: Find another park to stay at unless the beach cancels out the issues
