Stayed little haven for 12 days not been here for 15 years forgotten how lovely this place is great place for fishing walking and bird watching is brilliant you can watch wild life from the balcony of this fantastic cottage when the tide goes out all the bird's come in to feed on the sand bank's which you can watch form the balcony see 61 different bird's from here not bad for November got the ferry over to hengistbury head great for walking and watching wild life all in all had a great stay Will be back soon
Lovely location for a holiday, with incredible views from the terrace, which is a great spot for dinner and a glass of wine.
We were there with 4 adults and 3 kids and there was plenty of room both in terms of the living space and the bedrooms. The house is well equipped and nicely done up, feeling luxurious but with loads of character as well.
There are great local attractions (especially the beach and crabbing) and we definitely recommend Highcliffe Castle where we had an unexpectedly fun afternoon on a wet day.
We’ll be back!
We stayed here over the August bank holiday 2017 when the weather was perfect and the house provided a stunning setting to watch the activity in the quay. The place could not be better located for catching the ferry to the wonderful beaches on the spit; for watching the bustling activity of the seaside or - best of all - for watching the boats going in and out of the quay. My favourite part of our trip was having kids in bed, watching the sun go down and the boats coming in. The stunning balcony provides the best view of all of it. The cottage itself is comfy and very stylishly done, with all mod cons. Overall, a fantastic trip.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Little Haven.
We were a group of two families, 2 x couples and 1 x 22 month and 1 x 17 month toddler.
The bedrooms were very comfortable, all with ensuite facilities and very nicely designed.
The upstairs was a great open plan space, perfect for cooking while the kids played and for family dinners. The kitchen is well appointed and has everything you need.
The wow factor of this house is the terrace, which is on the edge of the quay. We all enjoyed a drink on the terrace while watching the boats, canoes and jetskis passing.
The location of Little Haven is second to none, everything you need is walking distance, there are two excellent restaurants on the nearby beaches the Noisy Lobster and the Beach House (via the ferry on the Sandspit)
The ferry to Christchurch is a lovely trip out, we lunched at the Boat House and hired a boat and went further up the river.
The house is not secluded and the terrace is not private, there are people crabbing all around you but that is part of the fun and the charm, don't stay here if you don't want to see other people or be in amongst the action!
The only slight downside for us was noise from people walking on the upstairs living quarters affecting the downstairs bedrooms, the main master and one of the twins. Due to the nature of our group we had toddlers and one parent getting up early, allowing the other to sleep in, those in the bedrooms concerned could hear the footsteps of those above, the same applied if someone went to bed before the others. It was probably enhanced by the nature of our group and the fact that toddlers get up early, it did not ruin our holiday at all it was just a slight annoyance for the person trying to catch the extra sleep!
Ian was a great host and went above and beyond the call of duty. He saved a recipe one night by giving us his flour and another night rode to the local store for us.
Overall an excellent holiday and we certainly hope one day we can return to this fantastic house and location.
