Aranyakam is a beautiful choice for comfort, great food, inspiring environment and superb hospitality. Neema and Rajesh extend their traditional family hospitality to all their guests, and are warm and welcoming, spending time to get to know us. We enjoyed their welcome and their company for two days, and then could not resist returning for another two days as we drove north again. The house is very lovely: our spacious room had a lovely private verandah facing west, and there is a wide shared verandah to sit and watch the sun rising over the hills. Thank you, Neema and Rajesh!

Thanks to my friends recommendation, we decided to bunk in over here for two nights. We stayed in the tree hut (the smaller of the two which were available, the other larger one which we saw had an extra balcony area) which overhangs on one side towards the valley. Although the tree hut experience was quite nice (during the day), we weren't really outdoorsy people so we couldn't get comfortable with the creepy crawlies that come out after dusk (read bats, crickets and other bugs indigenous to the region). So the next night we decided to head back into the main house which has 6 rooms and we turned out to be the only guests that night. The owners of the homestay; Rajesh and Neema who live in their house right next to the main house (which is their ancestral home) made sure we were felt at home and cooked up a simple but generous breakfast (and subsequently dinner as well, as the nearest "town/village" is a bit of a walk). If you like a serene quite undisturbed experience in Wayanad, this is the place to be. But you need to be prepared to be disconnected and take in the whole experience as there is hardly any network conenction or internet (limited connectivity is available in the dining area). I would definitely go back here and have recommended it to my friends already.

We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed it. We were in the main house and the rooms are very simple. Our hosts were absoutely charming and Neema even gave me a present when she learned it was my birthday! She and Rajesh clearly enjoy talking to their guests and we learned a lot about their life. We loved the food - every meal was cooked from scratch and was delicious. We had a driver so finding it was easy - it's probably harder if you're travelling independently. We were astonished to read a few negative comments. This is a homestay - why would you expect to have your linen changed daily? We wanted simply to relax. Other guests enjoyed a fishing trip to the nearby lake. There's no TV, so take a book and enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle of India!

We loved staying at Aranyakam and were made most welcome by the hosts. The food was plentiful and delicious. It was lovely just to absorb the beautiful nature all around amongst the coffee and tea plantations. The accommodation is wonderfully quirky in an old pepper store.

Room Tip: 1st floor either wing would be best or the 2nd lodge which has a fantastic view.

The hosts at Aranyakam make you feel like family. After an exhausting day of traveling, they welcomed us with smiles and made us one of the most delicious meals we had in India. (The food is INCREDIBLE.) We opted for one of the treehouses, which we highly recommend. We were blown away by the view when we woke up the next morning. We loved spending our mornings and evenings sitting outside and being immersed in the nature.

From start to finish, the hosts helped us plan everything. They helped us book a car to pick us up from the train station, arranged a fun day exploring town via tuk-tuk with Ganesh, and helped us plan the next leg of our trip. They even helped us try to recover some funds when a car company overcharged us, which was above and beyond our expectations.

Super quick to respond, incredibly kind and helpful, extremely beautiful property, we couldn't recommend Aranyakam more.

Room Tip: amazing view, great food, kind and helpful staff
